In a trailer, publisher Nexon introduced the new loot shooter under the working title “Project Magnum”. The scenes strongly resemble the loot shooter Outriders, but look significantly more polished. MeinMMO summarizes the information for you.
What kind of game is this? In addition to the trailer, there is also a brief description of the game that at least gives a rough impression.
The trailer also shows a mix of cutscenes and gameplay scenes that look quite good. There is plenty of action, battles, and several enemies on display. Additionally, some parallels to Outriders can be drawn.
When is Project Magnum supposed to be released? So far, there is no release date for the loot shooter. Up to now, it has only been stated that exact details will follow at a later time.
On which platforms will the game be released? Project Magnum is supposed to be released on PC and PS5. No other platforms have been mentioned.
Who is behind Project Magnum? The game is developed by NAT Games, which belongs to Nexon. The South Korean publisher is known for the F2P game MapleStory, which has recently received negative attention and faced accusations of fraud.

Project Magnum has some parallels to Outriders
What are the similarities? First of all, Outriders is also a loot shooter that is played from a third-person perspective. However, there are even more similarities:
- Project Magnum also seems to set its setting on a mix of science fiction and fantasy.
- Just like Outriders, there will probably be a pure PvE game. At least, there is no mention of PvP in the video description.
- You are also in a group here
- There seems to be a lot of weapons and crazy abilities, as is the case in Outriders.
What are the differences? However, Project Magnum also has a few things that distinguish it from Outriders and could make a big difference overall:
- While in Outriders a maximum of three players can go loot hunting together, here up to four players will probably be possible.
- Players in Project Magnum seem to be significantly more mobile.
- For example, there is a type of grappling hook that allows players to pull themselves towards larger enemies and ledges.
- Additionally, there seem to be some heavy melee weapons as well.
Currently, it’s still too early to draw major conclusions from the trailer. For instance, we still don’t know how the loot system in Project Magnum is supposed to work. It’s also unclear how much of the shown scenes are scripted and how much freedom of movement players actually have.
Is there a story? The trailer conveys at least a kind of framework narrative. A strange, large black sphere can be seen in the trailer, which is depicted as a kind of threat.
Furthermore, larger, destroyed ruins and various locations that suggest a dark setting can be seen. It remains to be seen how everything comes together. We will keep an eye on Project Magnum for you.
The fantasy element is likely to be much larger than it was in Outriders. This is suggested by the design of some of the shown enemies. From hostile drone robots to absurd monsters, quite a bit is displayed.
Among the first reactions to the trailer, several other comparisons are also made. Some see similarities to other shooters like Lost Planet 2, Titanfall, or Gears of War. Some even compare the art style to Final Fantasy. Ultimately, it remains to be seen how everything comes together in the game.
