A new leak in Pokémon GO gives hints about a feature that could greatly improve the trading function. There have been indications of this in the past.
In Pokémon GO, you are primarily supposed to move around in the real world and interact with trainers, catch Pokémon, or defeat them in raids and dynamax battles. And this is despite the fact that the most successful time for the game was when all trainers were supposed to stay at home.
Nevertheless, there are several ways for you to play from home or interact with other trainers from a distance. Now there are again indications through data mining that you might soon receive a feature to interact with trainers without leaving your home.
New leak, new hope
What does data mining mean? Data mining involves information and hints that have been discovered in the game’s files. This can include new images of monsters or items, or, as in this case, adjusted or newly added texts in the game.
It is important to note that this is not official information from Niantic.
What kind of feature is this? Screenshots of excerpts discovered by data miners in the game have surfaced on Reddit. These contain various texts related to trading monsters from a distance. Such indications have existed in the past.
The leak includes hints about a new friendship level currently named “Forever Friend”. Additionally, there are texts suggesting that with the new friendship level, you can unlock a distant trade. This trade seems to be unlocked every time you have collected a certain amount of friendship points with a friend.
This suggests that you won’t trigger a distance trade by luck, as is the case with a lucky trade, but can unlock it repeatedly by collecting a certain amount of friendship points.
All texts from the data mining can be found in the post on Reddit:
When will the feature be released? When the feature will be released, or if it will even be released at all, is not officially known. Such leaks have often provided information about new additions to the game in the past, which later officially made their way into the game.
However, it is also possible that such additions and texts are brought into the game and that Niantic subsequently decides against releasing the feature. So we will have to wait and see if and when you will be able to trade monsters with friends from a distance.
