In Fortnite: Battle Royale, a new item is planned. This time, however, it is not a weapon per se, but a new turret. This could shake things up significantly in the game.
What is the turret about? Recently, a new item has appeared on the in-game announcement page that has caught the attention of all Fortnite fans: the mounted turret.
This is a kind of flak emplacement with two automatic cannons, a seat, and a rudimentary shield at the front.
What can the turret do? There is still no detailed information, but according to the text, the turret can be firmly mounted and can provide suppressive fire from there. It could be a permanently mounted version of the light machine gun that has since been removed.
Interestingly, the turret seems to have unlimited ammunition but can overheat if you fire continuously for too long. The text explicitly warns against overheating.
When will the turret come? As usual, the turret should appear in Fortnite with the next update. This is expected to hit the servers between November 13 and 14, 2018.
The reactions to the turret
Great confusion about the turret: As expected, part of the community is reacting extremely negatively to the new turret. The reason for the anger seems to be that many fans see the turret as a kind of automated gun that takes everything in its path under fire.
Similar to one of the unlockable killstreaks from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. “Oh man, I can’t wait to walk through the woods and get mowed down by four of these things,” laments a player online.
Probably not an auto-turret: However, it is clear from the description text that the turret will be a stationary item that you must operate yourself. The turret has a seat made specifically for that purpose, which is easy to identify.
“Fix the problems first instead of constantly bringing new things!”: Others are simply against it because they distrust new features and demand that Epic take care of bugs and issues instead of constantly creating new problems.
The arguments of the turret supporters
The turret is a great idea! However, many players also defend the turret. It would greatly enhance structures and especially in strategic game modes like Disco Domination, it would be a lot of fun.
Moreover, it is only stationary and whoever is in the turret is easy “sniper fodder.” Others, however, wish for an option to mount the turret on an all-terrain vehicle or even the new Quad-Rammer.
However, this is likely not going to happen. Most players believe that the turret will be a kind of “trap” that you set on a previously built foundation.
