Pearl Abyss, the developer of Black Desert, has announced several new game titles for the coming years. In the quarterly report meeting, the Korean company revealed the release plans for these games. The shooter Plan 8 was also discussed.

What are these new games? Pearl Abyss is currently working on 2 new MMORPGs:
- Crimson Desert – An MMORPG with a focus on PvE and story.
- DokeV – A family-friendly MMO that emphasizes collecting creatures like Pokémon.
Some time ago, there were rumors that the development of the new games was in trouble. But Pearl Abyss told MeinMMO upon inquiry that this is not the case. On the contrary, the company is said to be in a “hiring spree” at present.
The new information regarding the release of the titles also points to this, which was published during the quarterly earnings call.
When are the MMORPGs supposed to be released? Crimson Desert is currently scheduled to be released in Q4 2021. For DokeV, however, a release is planned for no earlier than 2022 (via MMORPG-Blog.ru).
Although that is still a long way off, you probably won’t have to wait too long for the first gameplay videos. There should be initial tests for both titles in 2020.

What is special about the game? Officially referred to as “Next-Gen MMORPG,” Crimson Desert is considered one of the most promising MMORPGs in development on MeinMMO. And there are several reasons for that:
- Crimson Desert focuses heavily on PvE content and story, which many of our readers wish for. In the story, you take on the role of various members of a mercenary band and are meant to experience a kind of campaign.
- The MMORPG is supposed to be aimed at the West. Console versions are even planned. This is rather unusual for games from Asia, where the focus is on PC and mobile.
- It will be released in a new, in-house engine.
- Pearl Abyss has already demonstrated with Black Desert that they can develop a good game and support it over the long term.

How is it going at Pearl Abyss? The first quarter of 2020 went steadily for the Korean company. With 133.2 billion won (100.4 million euros) in revenue, they improved slightly compared to the previous quarter and also compared to the first quarter of 2019.
One reason for this may be the still strong performance of Black Desert Mobile. In addition, the release of Shadow Arena, the new Battle Royale, is imminent. The developers even see potential in esports there, as mentioned in the meeting.
The fact that Pearl Abyss is generally doing well is shown by the expansion of their office space. The new building is said to have cost 156 million dollars and includes a total of 20 floors. Completion is planned for 2021.
Shooter Plan 8 will be released much later
What about Plan 8? In addition to the two MMORPGs, Pearl Abyss is also currently working on Plan 8, an MMO shooter. This is being developed together with Minh Le, one of the two creators of “Counter Strike.”
