The Manga of Kagurabachi is increasingly becoming one of the most successful Shounen mangas. Although the story started as a joke in the community, the tale surrounding Chihiro has now become a hidden gem – and is even recommended by a mangaka from the Big 3.
What kind of manga is this? The manga of Kagurabachi is still quite new. The first chapter was released on September 19, 2023.
- At the center of the action is a young man named Chihiro Rokuhira.
- He is the son of the renowned swordsman Kunishige Rokuhira and dreams of one day following in his father’s footsteps.
- The swordsman is murdered one day and Chihiro becomes a swordsman to avenge his father.
- With his enchanted sword, he now confronts a group of sorcerers who have stolen six swords from the forge.
Even before its release, the community created numerous memes about the manga. Many of the pictures claimed that Kagurabachi was even better than One Piece and generally the best Shounen manga of all time. The jokes even went so far as to falsify an anime and a video game for Kagurabachi.

What has become of Kagurabachi by now? The memes surrounding Kagurabachi helped the manga achieve great success. The first issue sold so well that there was a third edition.
Now Kagurabachi has gained another well-known fan. None other than the mangaka of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto, has recommended Kagurabachi. The official account of the manga shared Kishimoto’s recommendation on X:

By now, the Shueisha publishing house has so much confidence in the story that it comes first in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. This gives the manga a status of being a major bestseller. This is a personal record for the mangaka (via X).
Where can I read the manga? So far, 40 chapters of Kagurabachi have been released. You can read all these chapters in the Manga Plus app, but only in English.
The English physical manga is set to be released on Thalia on November 7, 2024. The second issue will follow on February 4, 2025 (via Amazon). When a German version will be available is unfortunately still unknown.
