The successor to probably the most unfair MMORPG of all time launches its final beta before Early Access in September. We at MeinMMO show you how you can play Mortal Online 2 (PC) if you dare.
What is Mortal Online 2? This MMORPG is the successor to the 11-year-old Mortal Online. Mortal is a full-PvP and full-loot sandbox MMORPG. That means you can do pretty much anything in the world. Explore, build, kill, and be killed.
Mortal Online 2 also takes on this hardcore mechanics. You can be attacked anywhere in the world, and if you die, your murderer can take everything you carry. The fights are not supposed to be decided by equipment or level but purely by your skill. The better fighter should win.
However, Mortal Online 2 has changed some nuances to partly escape the reputation of being an unfair game. If you now kill other non-defending players without reason, you will be marked as a murderer and have various penalties in your game world.
But it should also become a little fairer for murderers, as you can no longer save your loot by suddenly logging out. When you exit the game, your character remains in the world for a while and can be attacked. You are only safe in your own houses and inns.
What is included in the gameplay? You can expect exactly what you imagine under a hardcore sandbox MMORPG in Mortal Online 2. The focus is on realism in combat and PvP. You can also expect the following features:
- An action combat system from the first-person perspective
- Leveling without levels, as although there are no player levels, you rise in over 600 skills by using them more often
- Crafting and free trading
- Melee and ranged combat, and even magic and mounted combat are supposed to be possible
- If you kill an opponent, you can take everything they have

When can you play? Mortal Online 2 starts in Early Access on October 26. It then relies on Buy2Play and Pay2Play principles similar to World of Warcraft. You must buy the game and then pay monthly for it. However, there are to be no Pay2Win elements.
Play the beta if you dare
When does the beta take place? From September 6 to September 12, the last closed beta of Mortal Online 2 runs before the start of the Early Access program via Steam. The beta is perfect for anyone who wants to take a free look at how unfair the game is to you, or whether you are mean enough to take everything from others.
How do you participate? On the one hand, you can easily register for the closed beta via the Steam page of Mortal Online 2, but that does not guarantee you a secure spot in the beta.
On the other hand, you can register directly through the homepage of Mortal Online (via MortalOnline.com). However, registration here is not free. If you have created an account on the site, you must find the appropriate package under “Donations” and pay the required amount. Once done, you will receive a secure spot in the beta.
What can you expect in the beta? In the closed beta in September, you can expect the entire world “Nave”. There will be no limits when it comes to exploration. The latest updates like equipment for your pet or magical spells are available in the beta.
