MMOs and Multiplayer Games You Could Play in 2021
Apart from fixed release dates, we are looking forward to MMOs that will reveal more about themselves this year. These can be Alpha, Beta, or Early Access launches:
- Ashes of Creation, an MMORPG that focuses on city building and the fight for it. The Alpha is expected to begin in spring.
- Blue Protocol, an MMORPG from Japan that is set to release worldwide
- Camelot Unchained, the MMORPG with a strong PvP focus.
- Corepunk, an MMORPG that mixes LoL and WoW Classic and definitely wants to start with a Beta in 2021.
- Fractured, the MMORPG that relies on the amazing technology SpatialOS.

MeinMMO Assessment: 2021 is a great year for MMORPG fans
Who is speaking here? Alexander Leitsch is an editor and MMORPG expert at MeinMMO. For him, 2021 is already a successful year from the perspective of MMORPG fans.
How has 2021 been so far? The year started rather calmly. In January, the MMORPG Wild Terra 2, which I have already played in beta, was released. It is a survival game where PvP plays a significant role. For those not interested in PvP, of whom we have a few in the community, the game may be rather uninteresting.
Additionally, in February, Skyforge was released for the Nintendo Switch. Although this MMORPG is somewhat older (release 2015), it impresses with action-packed battles on the console. Since there are few titles of this genre on the Switch, it is worth a look.
In August, Bless Unleashed was released for PC. This MMORPG focuses on many field bosses, an action-packed combat system, and above all, a lot of grind. I have played Bless Unleashed extensively and was positively surprised.
This year, 4 more MMORPGs have also been released:
- Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis
- Crowfall
- Swords of Legends
- New World
Especially New World has made a really good impression after the launch and has become a success on Steam. Now it is up to Amazon to deliver content.
For Crowfall and Swords of Legends, it has rather been slow. They were unable to generate much hype after their release.
What else is coming in 2021? With Elyon, a new MMORPG is set to release in October. We have looked at whether it is worth it: New MMORPG Elyon starts this week on Steam: Why should one play it? The brief check
If you prefer to stick with your old MMORPGs, you will not be disappointed either: This year there will be a major expansion for Final Fantasy XIV.
If you are not interested in classic MMORPGs at all, there are also plenty of new shooters set to release in 2021. A major highlight will likely be Battlefield 2042 at the end of the year. Additionally, we can expect a new Call of Duty.
