In recent days, more gameplay videos of the MMO shooter Anthem have been unveiled. These have heavily focused on the Javelins and their abilities. Fans are now wondering what role weapons will play in Anthem. We will learn more soon.
Weapon stream planned: Next week Thursday, January 17, the developers of Anthem want to host a new stream. This stream will primarily revolve around weapons.
In these special streams from BioWare, gameplay and features are usually showcased. At the end, the developers answer selected questions from fans.
New Javelin gameplay causes some confusion
This confuses some fans: Recently released gameplay footage showed the Javelins in action. These are the classes of Anthem in the form of combat suits. Some noticed that the Javelins mostly attacked enemies with their individual skills. Gunplay was hardly seen. This can be observed in this Storm gameplay video:
Fans are reminded of Diablo: In Anthem, the abilities used by the Javelins largely appear extravagant. There are large explosions or impressive elemental storms. This would be typical of the “hack and slay” genre, to which Diablo or Path of Exile belong.
In fact, Anthem will even have a similar loot system as Diablo, which fans celebrate. However, Anthem is considered a shared-world shooter like Destiny, Warframe, or The Division.

Interesting: It is already known that there will be plenty of legendary weapons in Anthem. Anthem itself is referred to as a “Multiplayer Action Role-Playing Game.” Another representative of this genre is Monster Hunter World.
It is understandable that some are questioning what role weapons will play in Anthem. After all, there is still a third-person shooter element – likely similar to Mass Effect.
