New gameplay for The Division 2 has been released. It features the map, the character menu, and action-packed shootouts.
Where does the gameplay come from? From August 31st to September 3rd, PAX West is taking place in Seattle – an annual convention for video games. During a livestream, Ubisoft showcased fresh gameplay scenes from The Division 2, sourced from the playable demo on site.
Gameplay videos for The Division 2: We present two videos edited by dualshockers from the livestream. In the first video, you can see the character menu and the map of Washington D.C.:
What can be seen in the video?
Character customization in The Division 2: Right from the start, it is about customizing an agent and individualization. The inventory is shown along with the stats, attributes, and set affiliation of an item:
This shows the overview of the equipped weapons, armor pieces, and skills of the agent. A seeker mine and a drone are equipped as skills:
The map: From minute 2:28, the map of Washington D.C. is shown. The map is said to be about 20% larger than the one from New York in The Division 1:
There are wide, open areas in Washington D.C. and narrow spaces between buildings – overall, the environment is said to be significantly more diverse than Manhattan in New York. This is expected to make explorations more exciting, and encounters to be more varied. For example, you can no longer only take cover behind cars and barriers but also behind trees.
The video zooms in on some areas of the map.
From minute 6:05, gameplay from a third-person perspective is shown. The details of the landscape around the building of the Modern Art Gallery are examined.
Second gameplay video from PAX West
The second video shows more action. Four agents fight a bit in the open world against nasty enemies – it is neither a story mission nor a side mission, but just open-world action:
Here, the agents enter the building of the Modern Art Gallery, which was already introduced in the first gameplay video. The objective is to capture a checkpoint. Several weapons and skills are seen in action, providing an impression of the game world.
After the rather disappointing “gameplay trailer” from Gamescom for The Division 2, which basically showed no gameplay, the gameplay videos from PAX now offer significantly more.
The Division 2 will be released on March 15, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you pre-order certain editions, you can even start earlier:
