In just under a month, the highly anticipated action role-playing game Path of Exile 2 will be released, and the developers are revealing 30 minutes of new gameplay. In it, they showcase a few new tricks that you can use to maximize your damage in the game.
What is this new gameplay about? It is a gameplay walkthrough recorded at the Tokyo Game Show. Joining are Game Director Jonathan Rogers and the former President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Shuhei Yoshida.
The first 20 minutes of the walkthrough feature Rogers showing off some of the new classes and how the battles in Path of Exile 2 are designed to be even more exciting. After that, he and Yoshida play a round in local co-op mode – of course, with a PS5 controller.

New Classes and Synergies Between Skills
The showcase begins with the Mercenary, one of 12 classes in Path of Exile 2. It is designed to feel like playing a shooter. You switch between ammunition types depending on your need, focusing on area damage or pure penetration.
Certain skills and weapons have useful synergies. For example, if you freeze your enemies, you can immediately shatter them with a shotgun blast. This is intended to prevent you from constantly spamming the same skills.
Next, the Warrior is introduced. He fights with a powerful war hammer. A few of the most exciting innovations are revealed here for the first time:
- You can change the direction of certain skills while using them
- With a roll, you can cancel skills
- Some skills have special effects when used in combination with others
If you create magma on the ground with a skill, another skill will cause that magma to erupt from the cracks in the ground. This way, you deal extra damage to enemies passing through that area.
The Monk fights with a staff and can summon a bell if you have dealt enough blows. The ringing of the bell increases his damage and can also be combined with your skills. Path of Exile 2 encourages you to experiment with your skills and find new ways to elevate your damage to the next level.
You were supposed to start playing Path of Exile 2 on November 15, but the release has been postponed to December 6, 2024. The reason for this is that the developers did not want to break a promise. What that was, you can find out here: Path of Exile 2 is postponed so you don’t lose anything from the predecessor that you have purchased
