A new battle royale game will be released soon on Steam. Out of Reach: Treasure Royale mixes the pirate gameplay of Sea of Thieves with the battle royale action of Warzone, adding a good dose of exploration and survival on top.
What is Out of Reach: Treasure Royale? This is a spin-off of the game Out of Reach. It is a pirate survival game where you must survive as a stranded pirate on a wild island.
In the spin-off Treasure Royale, it is also about survival, but unlike the original, you will be fighting in an unusual battle royale. A typical round looks like this:
- At the start of the game, assemble a crew of up to three players
- Choose a ship
- Start with a saber and 10 cannonballs and explore the game world
- On islands in the sea, you will find better weapons and rum!
- Sail continuously, as the play area shrinks
- When you encounter other pirates, you shoot their ships to pieces or board them
- The pirate who remains at the end wins!
Cemetery instead of Gulag – More Features of Out of Reach: Treasure Royale
What else is in Treasure Royale? A typical round of Treasure Royale mixes the crazy gameplay of Sea of Thieves with hard-hitting battle royale action like in Call of Duty: Warzone.
Most of the time, you sail around on a ship in the ocean and search lonely islands. According to the developers, the game world should cover over 20 km². There are 25 to 99 pirates roaming around.
When you encounter other pirates, it either leads to a duel or an intense naval battle. The trailer on Steam shows quite impressively what that looks like.
If you know Warzone, one of the game mechanics of Treasure Royale may seem familiar to you. Because while you can fight for a respawn in the Gulag after dying in CoD, in Treasure Royale you can fight as a ghost pirate on a cemetery against other undead and thus return to the game. Alternatively, your remaining crew members can respawn you with unholy rituals.
Also cool: If your ship sinks, you can sacrifice part of your life and unleash the Kraken. It will then dutifully retrieve a new ship from the depths of the ocean and you can continue sailing.
When will Treasure Royale be released? If you think this crazy genre mix might appeal to you, you will have to wait a bit. According to the Steam page, Treasure Royale is not expected to come until the 3rd quarter of 2020. However, the devs still need €13,053, which they are currently raising through a Kickstarter campaign.
