THQ Nordic is already exciting with seven minutes of gameplay from a new horror game on Steam, which aims to reinterpret an old classic. Watch the trailer here on MeinMMO.
What kind of game is this? Alone in the Dark is the reinterpretation of a classic from 1992. The horror game by THQ Nordic is set to be released on January 16, 2024, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The game follows the story of Emily Hartwood and private detective Edward Carnby. After Emily learns that her uncle is missing, the two set out to find him. This leads them to a creepy town and a home for the mentally ill.
There, they encounter not only strange residents but also spooky monsters and enemies. Additionally, portals to other worlds are found.
For your playthrough, you can choose between Emily or Edward. The scenes are supposed to differ depending on the character choice, making multiple playthroughs worthwhile.
What does the trailer show? The trailer presents over seven minutes of gameplay from the third-person game. Here, you also get a little taste of the difference between the two characters.
You will also see many of the mechanics that you can expect in the game. From stealth to fights and exploring the city, the trailer shows a good mix of everything and definitely makes you want to see more.
Above all, the trailer conveys the eerie atmosphere of the game. With inhuman monsters that seem to drag black muck behind them or seem to consist of thousands of black worms.
The NPCs that you meet in the trailer also convey with their behavior that something is not quite right in this town.
Additionally, there is really well-designed color concept, with yellowish, warm light next to the gloomy surroundings and rather natural and muted colors. This not only creates a creepy atmosphere but also helps to immerse in the 1920s, in which the story takes place.
The bar for horror games is already set high in 2024
What are the reactions? The reactions in the comments via YouTube are extremely positive. For example, user ItsJontis calls the game the best horror game of 2024 in his comment.
Considering that the game is already coming out in January 2024, he sets the bar quite high for subsequent horror games of the year. However, looking at the other comments, many players seem to share a similar opinion and place some hope in the game.
