The Steam game Temtem is considered a Pokémon MMO and has now received a free variant. In Temtem Showdown, you don’t have to worry about grinding and leveling up, but can jump directly into battles.
What does Temtem Showdown offer? The game is described by its creators as a multiplayer battle simulator. We assemble our team from numerous Temtem and get right into the battles. It is even possible to customize the Temtem individually.
There are various modes in which we can compete against our opponents:
- Ranked battles: Here we can compete against participants regardless of their skill. We can climb the ranks and reach the top. According to the trailer, the ranks are Bronze, Silver, and Gold (I-III) and Legend.
- Community tournaments: Players can host tournaments here according to their own rules.
- TemCS: Here we can participate in official eSports tournaments. As a reward, the creators promise hefty prizes, presumably in the form of prize money.
- Friendly matches: In friendly matches, we can compete against our friends in casual battles. This allows us to try out specific strategies or Temtem combinations.
This saves players who are not fans of catching and leveling monsters a lot of time. They can jump directly into battles.
You can find the suitable trailer for this on MeinMMO:
What is special about it? The battles take place in 2-vs-2 encounters just like in the main game. This means that we send two Temtem from our team into battle simultaneously. In the main game, it is even possible to team up with another person so that each sends one of their Temtem into battle. Unfortunately, this is not shown in the trailer.
Additionally, there are expected to be new seasons at regular intervals that should offer new gameplay combinations. The team has not revealed how often these seasons will run so far. The main game is currently receiving a lot of criticism for its battle pass.
What does the community say about it? Temtem Showdown is not well received by players (via reddit.com). Some users would have preferred that the main game be expanded instead. They criticize the “boring gameplay” and the “lack of communication” from the developers.
We have summarized some voices from the community:
- Parliamentronic: “Temtem and Pokémon complaint threads should be opportunities to promote other good creature-collecting games, the Siralim games are great too.”
- Silentman0: “So… did they remove the open MMO part? The part that made it more than just a Pokémon clone?”
- Hexdro: “Imagine dropping the idea of future content for your main game and instead releasing this game… certainly interesting.”
User Agitated-Prune9635 is tired of turn-based monster battles. He prefers a monster-collecting game that features real-time battles like in Pokémon Tekken.
