There is a sign of life from Chrono Odyssey! The ambitious MMORPG from Chrono Studio and Kakao Games, which is set to be released for PS5 and Steam, had an appearance at the “State of Unreal” livestream from GDC 2024.
What was shown? First, the developers took the time to showcase various areas of Chrono Odyssey – for example, the ever-changing world of Setera, as well as character creation and combat styles.
Then followed a new, well-staged tech trailer that strongly reminded us of the transitional lands from Elden Ring, with the shown panoramas and bosses. As a kicker, there was also the information that Chrono Odyssey is set to be released not only on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, but also on the Epic Games Store.
Here you can watch the slightly more than five minutes long appearance from the Game Developers Conference 2024:
What do I need to know about Chrono Odyssey? This is an action MMORPG from Chrono Studio that is based on Unreal Engine 5 and was announced at the end of 2020. About 120 developers are currently working on the project. The core features of the online role-playing game are as follows:
- The world of Setera is said to be not only large, seamless, diverse, and open but also in constant change – not only due to the seasons and weather events.
- The change will also be triggered by time travel, as you can switch between the past, present, and future. The transition is supposed to happen seamlessly in the game world – similar to the journey between the two worlds in Lords of the Fallen from 2023.
- In Chrono Odyssey, you have the choice between six combat classes: Paladin, Swordsman, Berserker, Assassin, Ranger, and Sorceress.
- Each class is supposed to have several weapon types available that you can freely swap during combat.
- In combat, regardless of your class choice, you can manipulate space and time with the so-called Chronoprotector.
- Thanks to the numerous customization options in the character builder, player characters and NPCs are supposed to look as individual and unique as possible.
- The developers promise dungeon and raid challenges. There are also supposed to be PvP content.
- There will be gathering and crafting activities. You can take on tasks like harvesting, logging, mining, and skinning. The resources can be processed into equipment and consumables.
Unfortunately, there is still no release date for Chrono Odyssey. Nonetheless, it is nice to see a sign of life from the developers again. The MMORPG from Chrono Studio has always looked incredibly exciting in the previous trailers. Especially since the decision-makers had killed the originally planned mobile version some time ago.
