A new PvP shooter called The Finals is about to start a closed beta test, for which you can register on Steam.
What kind of game is this? The Finals is an upcoming first-person shooter developed by Embark Studios and will be released as a free-to-play title on PC via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The Finals focuses on action-packed PvP battles, where you can use numerous weapons, different gadgets, and the destructibility of the maps to gain an advantage over your opponents.
In general, you should be able to modify all maps in The Finals to gain a tactical advantage. However, whether you blow up entire buildings beneath your enemies is up to you. You can freely assemble your loadout and choose the weapons, skills, and devices you use.
For example, you can also choose to avoid chaos and destruction and sneak up to your opponents with a katana to eliminate them as quietly as possible.
The maps themselves are called arenas. In them, players compete against each other in a kind of game show to play for victory.
We’ll embed the trailer for the closed beta here:
When does the closed beta start? The Finals will start a two-week closed beta on Steam on March 7, 2023.
If you want to participate in the closed beta, you need to request access on the Steam page of the shooter. If you are accepted for the beta test, you will receive a notification via email. How generous the developers are in this regard cannot be said at this time.
What do shooter fans think about The Finals? On YouTube, some shooter fans have commented on The Finals or the new “closed beta” trailer. The overall tone is very positive, with many players enjoying the scenes shown.

The shooter fan ShaddyDaShadow couldn’t resist making a little jab at the much-criticized Battlefield 2042, writing: “So, this is where all the talent from DICE went.” He refers to the fact that the makers of The Finals, Embark Studio, have former DICE and Battlefield employees like Patrick Söderlund and Robert Runessson among their ranks.
Embark Studios is also working on the loot shooter ARC Raiders, which was originally supposed to be released in 2022 but has been postponed.
