You want to play a new MMORPG but don’t necessarily want to spend money on New World and the like? And actually, you prefer to play alone, but the possibility of gaming with others is still cool? Then Mist Legacy (PC) is something for you.
What is Mist Legacy? The MMORPG launched in Early Access on October 5 and has been available on Steam since then. It has received over 70% positive reviews, but also solid critiques.
Mist Legacy emphasizes the RPG aspect of MMORPGs and is, in many ways, a classic role-playing game, reminiscent of Dungeons and Dragons. Played from a top-down perspective, if you don’t want to have players around, you can surround yourself with NPCs.
The battles are turn-based and completely classless. It relies similarly to New World on a classless character system, where you get better at the things you do regularly.
The game places a strong emphasis on an exciting crafting system, where you can fundamentally craft everything from everything, and there are no pre-made blueprints for items. The world itself also plays a major role in Mist Legacy, as you have different abilities depending on where you are.
What are the core features? Mist Legacy offers a number of core features, many of which are aimed at solo players.

How does it feel to play? The MMORPG gives you the freedom to mostly go solo and is thus perfect for solo players. For all battles, you can call on your NPC supporters at any time, so you are not dependent on other players or friends.
You can play Mist Legacy as a single-player RPG if you don’t feel like having other people around. However, you can use the trading post at any time, where players can offer and buy their found and crafted items.
How does crafting work? Mist Legacy presents an exciting concept in crafting, as you can essentially create any item from any other item. There are no fixed recipes or blueprints for items.
Much more, you can experiment with what happens if you swap the wood of a chair, for example, for metal. There are always ways to optimize your crafting and produce better items using different materials.
How do battles play out? The battles in Mist Legacy are turn-based, and you always enter the ring in groups of three. For this, you can take two other players with you or your NPC colleagues who are always ready.
Regarding the combat system, five specializations await you that you can level up and thus improve. You can then assign corresponding specializations to your NPCs and thus form an effective three-person team that can withstand any danger.
What does RPG focus mean? At heart, Mist Legacy is an RPG, but actually in every other “body part” as well. Action elements, as known in many MMORPGs, are absent here. Jumping, dodging, climbing, or similar maneuvers do not exist.
If your hero needs to accomplish something, there is a skill in the game that is related to it and in which he can improve. This offers a lot of room to customize your own character just the way you want it.
Community is excited but has one major criticism
What is the sentiment? The Steam reviews of Mist Legacy are currently mostly positive with 117 reviews. Most players are thus pleased with the MMORPG for solo players.
However, there are criticisms regarding the issue of Pay2Win. As with many Free2Play titles, Mist Legacy also offers an in-game shop where you can buy items for real money. With the items offered, you can save a lot of waiting time and, for example, buy experience bonuses. This has raised concerns among some fans.

But why would you do that? It’s easier to just recreate the item. […] The game is really a lot of fun, especially as a solo experience.’
