A DLC for Borderlands 2 has been leaked on Steam, which apparently is meant to connect to the story in Borderlands 3. Even new bosses are included.
What was leaked? For a brief moment, a new expansion for the 7-year-old Borderlands 2 was visible in the shop of the video game platform Steam. The DLC is called “Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary”. A few weeks ago, a rumor about such a Borderlands 2 DLC surfaced.
What’s included in the DLC? According to the description, the DLC introduces new bosses, new locations, and new loot. A user on Resetera was able to secure screenshots and the description of the expansion after the content has since been removed from Steam. The description on Steam stated:
Return for new adventures to the award-winning shooter-looter that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault map has been stolen, and a toxic gas is infecting Pandora.
Fight against new bosses, explore new zones, earn new loot (including an entirely new tier above Legendary), and join Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to face off against a disturbed villain intent on dominating the planet.
New players can boost directly to level 30 and get started.
As Polygon reports, the title of the new DLC “Fight for Sanctuary” might provide hints as to why the transition of the city from Borderlands 2 (which serves as a HUB) to the new spaceship HUB in Borderlands 3 is happening. The description suggests that Sanctuary is no longer safe. Thus, the developers would create a link between the two titles.
Does the expansion cost anything? According to user KoolAid on Resetera, the DLC is said to be a free product that can be easily installed.
When will the DLC be released? According to rumors, the DLC “Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary” is expected to be released sometime during E3 2019 (via PlayStation Lifestyle).
