The upcoming extraction shooter Hyenas is currently inviting you to an alpha test. We’ll show you how to participate.
What kind of game is this? The crazy extraction shooter is called “Hyenas” and is produced by the developer studio Creative Assembly, and is set to be released on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
The gameplay of Hyenas is reminiscent of Escape from Tarkov and other EFT-likes – you start a match, loot stuff, fight against other players and AI opponents, and then try to escape the map with your loot.
In addition to the extraction mechanics and the PvEvP fights, Hyenas features a colorful graphic style and twisted humor. Moreover, gameplay includes hero mechanics like in Overwatch and battles in zero gravity.
What is Hyenas about? In Hyenas, the wealthy live on Mars while the rest of humanity orbits, because Earth no longer exists. The Hyenas themselves are a group of thieves, including the players, who are after the treasures of the rich Mars residents.
The target of your heists are special artifacts from pop culture. In the announcement trailer, we can see, for example, a Sonic figure and a Rubik’s Cube.
Hyenas launches closed alpha on Steam
When does the alpha start? The closed alpha of Hyenas started on Friday, March 24, 2023, and is playable for a total of 11 days, until April 4.
However, only Steam players are eligible for the current alpha test (via Steam). On the game’s website, it states that future test phases will also follow on other platforms.
How do you participate in the alpha?
- To participate in the closed alpha of Hyenas, you need to go to the official website of the game (via playhyenas.com) and click on “Sign Up Now” and create a “Creative Assembly” account that you need to link to your Steam account.
- Next, you should fill out an application form and agree to a confidentiality agreement.
- If you are selected for the alpha test, you will receive an email with all necessary information.
