In Pokémon GO you can now find more EX Raid Arenas. We explain why this is important right now.
This change is about: EX Raids take place in Pokémon GO only at special arenas. These are then marked as EX Raid Arenas. Now there are again more arenas that bear this designation.
Right now, as Mewtwo returns to EX Raids, new arenas are important for this. This way you have better chances at the coveted invitations.
New EX Raid Arenas – What you need to know
Are these changes surprising? It’s not the first time that Niantic has added new EX Raid Arenas. Recently, in May 2019, new arenas for EX Raids were added.
These arenas are now new: In this change, mainly arenas that are generally new in the game have been affected. So if you have received a new arena in a park in recent months, this could now probably be an EX Raid Arena.
The fundamentals that make an EX Raid Arena have not changed. An EX Raid Arena still needs to be located in a park or a spot that is easily accessible and not directly on a street. Arenas located in the middle of a city are therefore unlikely to ever become an EX Raid Arena.
What does this mean for players? Anyone who previously did not have an EX Raid Arena in their locality may now rejoice at a change. So take a close look at your arenas.
You can recognize an EX Raid Arena by the mark it bears in the upper right corner. Only then can the arena actually trigger an EX Raid.
Why is this change so important now? Recently, there was Deoxys in the EX Raids and the Pokémon was not really usable in any form. However, Mewtwo is returning for 2 months in the special raids.
There, Mewtwo learns Shadow Ball, one of the best Ghost-type attacks in the game. Mewtwo with this attack is incredibly strong, so you definitely shouldn’t miss it. More EX Raid Arenas will therefore also give you more possible EX Raids.
Niantic has also significantly shuffled the spawn points. Are you also affected?
