Blizzard has announced a new event for Diablo 2: Resurrected and has also released it immediately. From December 13 to January 4, new zones will be reinforced every day, providing stronger loot. Players report truly rare drops.
What is this event about? Blizzard reveals in the new blog post not really much about the “22 Nights of Terror”. Only that from December 13 at 8 PM to January 4, 2023, at 8 PM German time, “a new gameplay modifier” will be available each day.
The event includes every game mode in Diablo 2, except the classic mode, which is supposed to feel more like Diablo 2. What modifier will be available each day will be revealed through the daily message directly in the game.
The information about the Nights of Terror remains sparse. Some players are already sharing their experiences with the event on reddit and other channels, explaining what it is really about.
Currently, Season 2 is running in Diablo 2: Resurrected, where enemies can be attacked for the first time while being “immune”. The latest installment, Diablo 4, is already on the horizon:

What does the event bring? As players report in a larger thread on reddit, at least the first day of the event involves transforming a certain zone into one of the new terror zones that have been in the game since patch 2.5.
In a terror zone, there are stronger enemies, but also better loot. In this case, it is precisely the secret Cow Level that is affected, which is already considered a top location for farming. Players explain that they can find exceptionally many and good items here.
Especially small spells with magic find and the new “Sundering Charms”, which allow overcoming immunities, have frequently dropped. In addition, the zone has even received a new name specifically for this event.
You can always find the currently terrorized zone at the Terror Zone Tracker, even outside of the event.
Is there more to the event? We do not yet know if the event will bring additional content – but it sounds likely that terrorized areas are the main focus. Terror zones usually only last an hour, while the Nights of Terror will last for an entire day.
Overall, the event is received well by players. It is only a small change, but exactly the reason why people continue to play Diablo 2: more loot and the chance to get that one special item.
