In Diablo 4 there is a new event coming up. During the “Lunar Awakening,” there are plenty of bonuses that you should definitely take advantage of.
Season 7 was released on January 21, 2025, and exactly two weeks later, the first event in the hellish monster hunt is here – the Lunar Awakening. Inspired by typical “Chinese New Year events,” you will receive big bonuses and can earn some new rewards during the event.
What kind of event is this? During the “Lunar Awakening” event, you will collect a new currency called “Favor of the Ancestors.” You can exchange this currency for different rewards at Ying-Yue, the head of the Lunar Night Market, in the north of Ked Bardu.
Additionally, the shrines across Sanctuary will be replaced with Lunar Shrines during the event. You can identify them from afar because the shrines have a new look – in the form of a dragon. Activating the shrines and subsequently killing monsters will grant you the Favor of the Ancestors over time, which you can then spend on cosmetic rewards with NPC Ying-Yue.
In total, there are 10 prestige levels where you can secure rewards – including cosmetics and a “Magnificent Spark” for crafting Mythic Uniques. But it doesn’t stop there: Once you’ve reached all levels, you can earn even more rewards with the “Infinite Gifts of the Ancestors.” So it’s worth farming even after reaching the last level.
What do the new shrines provide? When you activate the temporary Lunar Shrines, you not only receive a special shrine power as usual but also a random additional bonus. The bonuses include:
- Artillery Shrine: Skills have a chance to summon a holy bomb.
- Shockwave Shrine: Each explosion triggers a scattering bombardment.
- Channeling Shrine: Attack speed is increased, and you have an increased chance to reset cooldowns.
- Connection Shrine: Powerful, shocking strikes frequently leap from the character to nearby enemies.
- Greed Shrine: There’s a chance to summon a treasure goblin. As long as the shrine is active, a treasure goblin will be summoned from slain enemies.
- Deadly Shrine: There’s a chance to instantly kill affected monsters and instill fear in nearby enemies. This also applies to elite enemies, but not to bosses or other players.
- Protection Shrine: You reflect all damage taken. The reflected damage scales with level and difficulty.
How do you get the bonus XP? In addition to the effects mentioned above, active shrines grant an XP bonus of 100% (multiplicative). To activate this, you just need to interact with a shrine as soon as you see it. With a click, all bonuses will be active for a period of 2 minutes.
When does the event take place? The Lunar Awakening starts on February 4, 2025, at 7:00 PM and lasts until February 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Until then, all players in seasonal and eternal realms can benefit from the shrines and collect the various rewards for the Favor of the Ancestors.
Besides the mentioned bonuses and rewards, there will also be appropriate offers in the shop during the event if you want to style your character a bit more in the theme of the Lunar Awakening.
