Monster Hunter World turns two years old in just a few days. On January 24, a new event will be coming to Iceborne. Finally on all platforms: PS4, Xbox, and PC. The Astral Fest (Grand Appreciation Fest) will catapult you to the stars, and we will tell you why.
Update January 22: The Astral Fest in Seliana and the Festival of Gratitude in Astera start on January 24 at 1 a.m. German time. They will end on February 14. According to the latest roadmap, the “Grand Appreciation Fest” will be playable on all platforms.
What kind of event is this? There was already a big event for the first birthday of Monster Hunter World in 2019. And another anniversary is coming up in January 2020. For the second anniversary of the game, there will be the “Astral Fest”.
This event revolves around the theme of sky, stars, and space. The developers have said about themselves that they may have gotten a bit carried away. Therefore, the lift is reflected in the crazy outfits of the characters and fancy equipment for you and your Palico.
When does the event start? It kicks off on January 24, 2020. Since the Iceborne expansion is also being released for PC at that time, the event will likely be accessible on all platforms.
Palico, Equipment, and NPCs from Space
When the event starts, everything will be wrapped in a star theme. Your gathering place will have glowing lanterns, and the NPCs will also be dressed appropriately as usual. This also applies to your hunting expert, who comes with small antennas on her head.
This equipment is available for the event: Naturally, you will be able to farm weapons and armor for the second anniversary of Monster Hunter World again. Your Palico has probably been hit the hardest. If you build his armor, he will mutate into an alien.
But you can also beam your own character to the stars. The Astral α+ armor looks like it was woven from space fabric. It is transparent and cut like a robe.
This armor can be crafted using Astral Tickets. The decoration armor can be made from VIP Tickets. Your chance of getting these tickets increases when you wear the Astral α+. The events in Monster Hunter World always have commendations or badges that you need to collect. From them, you can then craft all sorts of equipment and decorations.
Elf Ears, Retro Palicos, and Funny Weapons – There’s More to the Event
But even outside the star theme, there is a lot to discover at the event. You can turn your Palico into a little conductor with some armor. Additionally, there will be Palicos in retro design. This is how the cat-like companions used to look in older parts of the Monster Hunter franchise.
There will also be more for your hunter to grab. There will be a head armor in the elf ear design. Additionally, a hammer that looks like a well-cooked steak in Monster Hunter World.
Additionally, even more decoration armors are said to be coming. So far, players can choose from a set of low and high-rank equipment. However, master rank decoration armors will also become accessible. Whether they will come with the event in January is still unknown.
