A little Easter egg currently delights Call of Duty: Modern Warfare veterans with a reference to one of the most famous CoD missions ever.
The CoD series can now look back on over 16 years of history and has accompanied some shooter players their whole lives.
With Call of Duty 4, the Modern Warfare story began in 2007, and for soldiers who have been with it since the beginning, the developers have hidden a little Easter egg. It references a mission that was something very special back then and has remained in many people’s memories to this day.
A little Easter egg evokes great memories
What does the Easter egg look like? It is an engraving on one of the purchasable weapon skins.
On the “Flesh Wound” skin of the DMR EBR-14, you will find an inscription with coordinates. The Reddit user “raflolio” took a closer look and checked where these coordinates actually point to.
He found that the geodata point to a location in the north of Ukraine, very close to the stricken reactor block 4 of Chernobyl.
Why is this so special? Near the nuclear disaster is the ghost town of Pripyat. In this abandoned city takes place one of the most famous and popular missions of the entire Modern Warfare series: All Ghillied Up.
The coordinates point quite exactly to the spot where the mission starts. A small wooded area in front of the city not far from the reactor site. For fans of the series, such little details are always a highlight.

Stealth mission was a highlight of the CoD 4 campaign
Why was the mission so cool? Back then, the mission structure was something special and very innovative.
It was a flashback mission that lets you step into the shoes of the now iconic Captain Price, who at that time was still Lieutenant Price.
The mission takes place in 1996, 10 years after the nuclear disaster. Price and his commanding officer Captain MacMillan have information about the whereabouts of a high-value target and must sneak through the abandoned city to take out the villain.
The slow approach and the scripted sequences were something new at that time and have likely stayed in the memory of many players.
Is the skin worth it? The weapon looks really cool with the “Flesh Wound” skin and should be a good option for players who enjoy using a ghillie suit.
However, the EBR-14 isn’t exactly one of the best weapons from the DMR category. Since the rework is part of a bundle, 1,400 CoD points are required.
But if you can handle the EBR-14 and have always been a fan of the Modern Warfare series, you can grab this with a good conscience and also enjoy the car air freshener as a little talisman extra. However, you might want to skip the little tree, as the more you decorate your weapons, the worse they shoot.
What do you think of the little Easter egg? Did you miss such a sniper mission in the campaign of the current MW?
