Elden Ring has suddenly released a teaser for an upcoming DLC. The team is working on completing a brand new expansion. While the teaser reveals little about what will actually happen in the DLC, MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos already has an idea of what you can expect.
What has been announced for Elden Ring? On February 28, 2023, From Software posted a picture regarding Elden Ring in a Twitter post. In this, the studio announced that it is working on a DLC for Elden Ring called “Shadow of the Erd Tree.” However, the team has not announced a release timeframe or more details regarding the DLC.
While From Software has kept players in the dark so far, the developers’ image already reveals quite a bit about the upcoming DLC.
The Elden Ring teaser shows more than you think
What does the picture of the DLC show? From Software released a picture with the title of the DLC along with its announcement. This image, like previous teasers for Elden Ring, refers to the upcoming content.
The image shows a child with long blond hair sitting on the mount Torrent. The child is located in the midst of a wheat field, which is dotted with many ghostly graves. Additionally, a dead Erd tree can be seen in the distance, slowly decaying, yet despite its condition, it still possesses the divine power of the Golden Order.
If you are familiar with the lore of Elden Ring, you know that the child is highly likely to be Miquella. Miquella is one of the Empyreans cursed to never age. He is the twin brother of Malenia and has tried to lift his curse through the Halig tree.

Many players have hoped that despite Mohg’s abduction, Miquella will finally make an appearance in Elden Ring, as he is said by Malenia to be one of the most terrifying Empyreans that exists.
It is therefore likely that From Software intends to resolve the story behind Miquella with the new DLC. Especially since, after the boss fight with Mohg is over, the cocoon of Miquella was already able to be viewed.
Thus, I assume that players will be drawn into Miquella’s dream or sleep to awaken the slumbering Empyrean or to help him.
When could the DLC be released? The Shadow of the Erd Tree has no release date yet, but it is known that From Software takes a maximum of half a year or even a year to develop its DLCs. However, this is merely an announcement that the developers are working on the DLC. It could still be a while before it is finished.
Since Elden Ring is a more complex, non-linear game, the DLC will likely not be released until late 2023 or early 2024. Should further information regarding the DLC be released, we will of course report on it.
What do you think of the DLC? Do you believe, like I do, that Miquella is finally coming into the spotlight and will be explored in more detail? Feel free to let us know your theories in the comments!
