The data miners have found a new photobomb in the code of Pokémon GO. It now seems likely which Pokémon could appear during the Community Day Classic in January 2023.
What is this find? Regularly, data miners sift through the code of Pokémon GO for changes. New Pokémon and features have already been discovered long before their announcement.
A find from December 7 shows a new photobomb. That is, a Pokémon that sticks its head into the picture during a snapshot. Could this be the prediction for the C-Day Classic?
Community Day Classic with Larvitar in January 2023?
This is the image: On Twitter, the Pokeminers account shared the photobomb. It features a Larvitar. We embed the Tweet with the image here:
In the comments, some trainers are speculating that the photobomb was likely added for an event in January.
However, the data miners do not assert at this point that the photobomb is directly related to a Community Day. But the suspicion is strong.
What do the players say? In the comments, users argue about what points to a Community Day Classic with Larvitar. They say:
- Larvitar already had a normal Community Day
- A Community Day Classic is confirmed for January with a date
- Larvitar is a strong Pokémon (similar to past C-Day Classics with Venusaur, Dragonite, Swampert)
- Other Pokémon from classic Community Days have also received photobombs
Also on reddit, the find of the data miners is a big topic of discussion. Players would wish for a classic C-Day with Larvitar. User FPG_Matthew writes, “It’s crazy that I’ve caught so many Larvitar, but never a shiny. I missed its Community Day. I would be happy about a classic [Community Day].”
User SparklingStar1440 writes: “I don’t think there’s much more to speculate about unless we’re being trolled or it’s a photobomb for some kind of pseudo-legendary event.”
We expect that Niantic will unveil the Community Day Classic planned for January 2023 still in December. Then we will know exactly whether the found photobomb is indeed for this event or if something special with Larvitar is starting.
