In Korea, the action RPG Raven was a huge success. The sequel announced last year is set to be released in 2024, taking you into a dark fantasy world and belonging to the genre of MMORPGs. Now, the developers from Netmarble have introduced the six classes of Raven 2 in video form.
What is Raven 2 as an MMORPG? Not much is known about the new MMORPG from Netmarble (Lineage 2: Revolution, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds). The first cinematic trailer (which you can find below) showcases a gloomy dark fantasy world that certainly radiates vibes reminiscent of the Dark Souls series from From Software.
The Korean version of the online role-playing game is expected to be released for PC and mobile by the end of May 2024. A global launch is planned for the second half of 2024. The developers promise raid challenges, large PvP battles, faction wars, and a choice of six classes.
Here is the cinematic trailer for Raven 2:
Which classes can I choose from? A total of six archetypes are confirmed (translated from Korean):
- Ranger uses a bow in combat and prefers to act from ambush.
- Berserker are heavy melee fighters who use a two-handed sword in battle and rely on brute force.
- Divine Wizards function as holy priests, casting their spells with a staff and able to support and heal allies.
- The Vanguard is a frontline soldier with sword and shield, capable of taking a lot of damage and cleansing dark magic.
- Elemental Mages cast their spells using a magical orb and deal explosive damage.
- Destroyers bombard their enemies with a heavy crossbow and throwing weapons.
First gameplay for all classes
In the past few hours, the developers have released a short gameplay trailer for each class. Unfortunately, the in-game scenes shown do not look as dark and intriguing as Dark Souls and delightfully dark fantasy suggests. Hopefully, that is only due to the setting chosen for the class gameplay.
You can find two of the total six clips, each 30 seconds long, below.

What was the predecessor like? The first Raven is an action RPG for mobile devices and was released in March 2015. 40 days after launch, the developers announced that they surpassed 1 million daily active players. Additionally, it won the main prize at the Korean Game Awards.
No one does dark fantasy better than From Software – here is the trailer for the Elden Ring DLC:
The sequel takes place in the same world as Raven and continues the story. The developers want to transfer the action-oriented identity of the RPG into an online world where “thousands of warriors” fight on the battlefield. It should not matter whether you play on PC or smartphone.
How well that will work in the end remains to be seen. If in doubt, just keep an eye on one of the following online role-playing games: All 62 MMORPGs currently in development for PC
