The launch of Back 4 Blood has finally arrived. We will tell you when it starts and how you can dive in right away.
After a postponement of the release date, a very successful open beta, and long months of waiting, the day has finally come. Back 4 Blood is being released, and all those who have longed for zombie action can finally send a lot of undead to the afterlife.
But how can you start playing today? We will reveal what is necessary to jump right in.
What is Back 4 Blood? Back 4 Blood is a co-op zombie survival shooter for 4 players from Turtle Rock Studios. They are the creators of Evolve and the now legendary Left 4 Dead. The naming of Back 4 Blood is similar, and the gameplay also reminds players of the old zombie hit. 4 players fight their way through relatively short but challenging levels to get from one safe room to the next.
The “Cleaners” have plenty of weapons, talents in the form of cards, and character-specific bonuses at their disposal. But the zombies know how to defend themselves – special infected make the players’ lives and the usually short path to the next safe room a hell.
Back 4 Blood: The Early Access Start Date
When does Early Access begin? Already today, on 07.10.2021. When exactly the Early Access starts depends on the respective platform. The dates differ slightly depending on the platform.
- PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows Store: Early Access starts on 07.10.2021 at 1:00 PM.
- Steam and Epic Games Store: Early Access starts on 07.10.2021 at 5:00 PM.
How can you participate in Early Access? To be able to play at the above times, you must either purchase the Deluxe Edition (€90) or the Ultimate Edition (€100).

Is there a pre-load? Yes, but probably only on consoles. Players on PlayStation and Xbox can already download the game for several days. PC players have not been able to download the game so far – so it is likely that this will only work with the start of Early Access.
So anyone with a slow internet connection who wants to play on PC will have to wait a long time.
When is the official release? If you don’t have time yet or don’t want to buy either of the two Deluxe versions, you will have to wait until October 12 – which is next Tuesday. Then Back 4 Blood launches worldwide at midnight (local time) and will also be available for Standard version players and Game Pass subscribers.
