DC and Warner Bros. have dropped a virtual bomb at the DC Fandome event on August 22. Together, they announced the co-op action game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and revealed the first details. You will fight against the Justice League, which has turned into villains, led by a really nasty Superman.
This is what happened: At the DC Fandome, a digital fan event for the superheroes and villains of the DC universe, the first trailer for the new co-op game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released on Saturday evening. Following that, there was a brief panel with Sefton Hill, the Creative Director and Co-Founder of the responsible developer studio Rocksteady Studios.
This is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League: Developed by Rocksteady Studios, who have already proven their craft with the Batman Arkham game series, the Suicide Squad game is set to be released in 2022 for PC and next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X. You can play the action title either solo or with up to 3 friends in online co-op.
In the trailer, you can already see the 4 characters of the Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark are part of the group. In single-player, you can switch between them at will, while the rest is always controlled by bots.
The game is played from a third-person perspective and features an open world in Metropolis. However, its size has not yet been disclosed. Sefton Hill also mentions in the panel that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set in the Arkham universe.
These are the characters: The 4 characters of the Suicide Squad all come with their personal movesets and weapons.
- Harley Quinn a.k.a. Dr. Harleen Quinzel – the “Mistress of Chaos” is mostly seen in close combat with her baseball bat and can move agilely with her grappling hook.
- King Shark a.k.a. Nanaue – the “demigod-like humanoid shark” is a meta-being and fights with his twin blades and a heavy machine gun.
- Deadshot a.k.a. Floyd Lawton – the “most dangerous shooter in the world” fights with his wrist cannons and a precision rifle, and is also very agile thanks to his jetpack.
- Captain Boomerang a.k.a. Digger Harkness – the “Australia’s top-class assassin” uses a shotgun and his boomerang in the trailer, which he can also use to teleport.
Whether more members of the Suicide Squad will appear in the game or be playable later is currently unknown. On Reddit , there is already speculation that it will be a service game, with more characters coming via DLCs.
This is the Suicide Squad: The antiheroes of the Suicide Squad are deployed whenever the situation seems pretty hopeless. This is also reflected in the name of the group, which consists of villains from the DC universe. With an implanted bomb in their heads, they have no choice but to comply with the government’s wishes.
These are your opponents: In Kill the Justice League, you will not only fight against alien-like creatures that you can already see as standard opponents in the trailer but also face the Justice League itself. So far, you have only seen Superman, who is anything but friendly and is on a hunt for humans. Other members of the Justice League could also be just as evil, with the most well-known being:

- Flash
- Aquaman
- Cyborg
- Green Lantern
Even though none of these characters have been seen yet, there are small teasers in the trailer. For example, we see King Shark popping balloons from Batman and Green Lantern.
We can be excited about what Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will have in store for us. However, until then, fans will have to wait a while; 2022 is still far away.
