Helldivers 2 is a new online co-op game developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and is set to be released on Steam. A gameplay video now provides a closer look at the combat system.
What is it about? Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter where you join the battle against alien life forms to liberate the galaxy.
Together, you fight as part of an elite unit – the Helldivers – using various weapons and equipment for your freedom. The developers promise a solid co-op system and their best cooperative gameplay to date. If you want to work as a team, it will be important to communicate, allocate your weapons appropriately, assign roles, and be perfectly prepared for combat.
When does it come out? Helldivers 2 is set to be released on February 8, 2024, on PC/Steam and PS5.
What does the video show? The nearly three and a half minute long video shows you gameplay from the fight against the powerful Acid Titan, commented by CEO Johan Pilestedt and Arrowhead Game Studios.
The mission shown starts in the spaceship, where you first need to select your mission on a galactic war map. Then you enter the “Hellpod,” a small capsule that transports you and your comrades to the chosen planet.
In this video, you visit one of many planets. The deadly Acid Titan is waiting for you here. The mission of the elite team is to take it out. The following gameplay presents a possible approach for that.
First, the Acid Titan must be found, and along the way across the unknown planet, you will encounter some smaller enemies. However, as a team, these can be easily taken down.
Work as a team to defeat your deadly enemies
The Acid Titan is a significant challenge and requires a focused approach and solid teamwork. Communicate with your teammates and support each other. For example, you can see that a rocket launcher can only be reloaded with two players.
Now and then, some smaller enemies may also interfere in the fight. So pay attention to your surroundings and help your teammates if they are being chased by a few small creatures. Otherwise, you will be missing a fighter against the big Acid Titan. However, it might even be a better tactic for one of you to take care of the little monsters around.
You can also see that after you die, you need a moment before you land back on the planet with the Hellpod. In the meantime, your team has to cope with one less fighter.
After each successful mission, rewards await you, with which you can upgrade your ship, weapons, armors, or tactical equipment.
