Ravenswatch was released on April 6 in a new version on Steam. In this co-op game, you face dozens of enemies and improve your hero. Random maps are supposed to provide replayability.
What kind of game is it? In Ravenswatch, you play as one of 6 heroes in a roguelite style. On randomly generated maps, you fight through enemies with swords, daggers, and magic, collecting upgrades.
The world is based on various folk tales and legends as well as Norse mythology with an additional horror aspect. A “nightmare” invades your world, corrupts it, and you must fight against it.
Fundamentally, the gameplay is that of an action RPG like Diablo: in isometric perspective (“tilted from above”). The style is strongly reminiscent of Tribes of Midgard or the Survival hit V Rising. Ravenswatch is currently in Early Access and offers:
- the first chapter of the story
- 6 heroes with unique abilities
- a “Master Nightmare”
- over 80 upgrades for your heroes
- over 50 magical items
- 10 difficulty modes
Is it “like Diablo”? In terms of gameplay, Ravenswatch looks similar to Diablo, but it lacks the RPG component. Instead of continuously improving a hero, you start anew again and again, as is customary in the roguelite genre.

Ravenswatch already has plans for 2023 and beyond
As Ravenswatch is still in Early Access, the game will continue to be developed for a while. In a roadmap, the developers have already revealed what is to come in the future (via Twitter).
In 2023, for example, a new hero will come in the spring, along with ultimate abilities for all heroes, a teleportation system, and more items. In the summer, the second chapter will feature new enemies, quests, and a new map.
Later, more chapters, the endgame, heroes, enemies, and more will follow. The feedback from players is to be taken into account. You can find Ravenswatch on Steam for currently €17.99 at the introductory price.
The first reviews give the game a “mixed” rating, but Ravenswatch has only been available on Steam for about an hour. The main criticism is the limited content, which will be expanded throughout the year. More meaningful reviews will likely come later.
