The German development studio Stratosphere Games is currently working on a co-op game on Steam that is supposed to shake up the gaming scene next year. You can find out what kind of game it is here on MeinMMO.
What is it about? The Desolation is a mix of looter shooter and action RPG that is set to start in Early Access in 2024. A full release is also planned for next year on Steam.
On their official Discord channel, the developers are already looking for some testers by November 20, 2023.

What kind of game is this? The Desolation takes place in 2140. The fragmented and militarized humanity has colonized Mars, merged with technology, and left only a small part of the population on Earth.
They could be less equipped to fight “The Schade.” This highly adaptable, synthetic life form infects human forces with its insidious, parasitic technology.
Your task will be to combat these invaders in your various missions on Earth and Mars.
What can you expect in The Desolation? In the fight against the hostile life form, you will team up with other players to increase your chances of success.
As is customary in a good RPG, you have the opportunity to develop your chosen class into different roles. Whether you want to take on the role of damage dealer, tank, or support is entirely up to you.
In the trailer, you will get to know these as Serpah, Frontliner, and Fortress. The trailer also clearly shows in some gameplay scenes how important it will be to work together with the different roles in the team.
Aside from fighting the aliens, you will of course want to get your hands on the best loot. This includes many customizable weapons to develop your own playstyle.
Hordes of aliens stand in your way in The Desolation
As seen in the trailer, you should fight through hordes of enemies in the co-op game, similar to Diablo, with your friends, leaving behind a lot of chaos and loot.
Your enemies can appear from all directions and attack from everywhere. The trailer suggests that your team is your best weapon and coordinating against attacks is incredibly important.
The three available classes remind you of those from Destiny. In addition, there are many weapons you can find on your journeys in various rarities, which is also the case in Destiny 2. However, whether the talents of the classes resemble those from the loot shooter will be revealed upon release. The Desolation resembles a Destiny-lite version.
What The Desolation promises sounds like a fun mix of the best that a good looter-shooter and a good action RPG have to offer.
