Dinkum is a new farming game on Steam that takes you to Australia. Many users write that the game strongly resembles Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley.
On July 14, 2022, the farming simulation “Dinkum” launched in Early Access. The game places your character on an island inspired by the Australian Outback.
You build your village, take care of cute wombats, but watch out for crocodiles. You can play cooperatively or alone.
According to SteamDB, a few days after release, nearly 9,000 players were online simultaneously, with 7,700 players in the last 24 hours.
What kind of game is this? Dinkum offers the following content:
- Your own village on the mentioned island, which you can build as you like

How does the cooperative mode work? The multiplayer is more reminiscent of Animal Crossing than Stardew Valley. You can invite friends to your island to help you with farming and walk around with you.
However, there are no shared progressions like in Stardew Valley, where you run your farm together. In Dinkum, only the host receives rewards.
The cooperative mode is the most criticized aspect of the game, according to reviews. Players wished the multiplayer was closer to Stardew Valley. Overall, the game is more designed for single players who occasionally visit their friends to help out a bit.
