In Destiny 2 legendary shards are a currency needed for various things in the loot shooter. While veterans are swimming in shards, many newcomers are running low on cash. However, don’t worry, because thanks to a change, you too can soon live in abundance – but you only have limited time.
What has changed? In Destiny 2, Bungie already announced that the annoying blue engrams should soon sink into the swamp of oblivion. Especially when a Guardian has reached the soft cap. This means that once you reach a level set by Bungie, only legendary engrams should drop.
When the developers first implemented the new system into the game, it unfortunately resulted in a complete server crash due to an incident, with some game data being lost. Bungie had to perform a rollback. Now a second attempt has been made, finally bringing the long-awaited positive change regarding the so-called “blues” into the game.
However, Bungie has not yet completely brought the blue engrams under control. Instead of blue ones, players will drop legendary engrams until Lightfall. We will show you why this is so good and why you should take advantage of it.
The fight against the blue engrams enters the second round
How do players benefit from this? The developers had the plan to completely erase the rare engrams upon reaching the soft cap. However, that didn’t work out so easily, and Bungie must therefore handle some things differently.
For this reason, Bungie stated on Twitter:
- Blue engrams no longer drop at the soft cap
- Where blue engrams used to drop, purple engrams will now drop
- Gaining weapon crafting experience will be increased by 25% from other sources
- When Lightfall is released, these engrams will turn into Glimmer
This means for you that no matter what activity you are in, many legendary engrams are waiting for you, which you can keep for good rolls or break down for shards. So if you are suffering from a shortage of shards, you should start farming now. Also, keep in mind that a lot will need to be purchased with legendary shards in the upcoming DLC. So it can’t hurt to stock up your inventory now.
Note that while Bungie says that no rare engrams will drop anymore, we can’t confirm that completely. Occasionally, some blue engrams still pop up here and there. The developer, however, wants to completely eliminate this with the help of players soon.
How long do I have for this? You can use this farming option until the release of Lightfall. Once Lightfall is released, the drop of a blue engram will instead dissolve into Glimmer.
What do you think about Bungie now putting on their spending pants and allowing you to stock up on your supply of legendary shards? Do you think it’s good, or do you already have so many that you don’t care? Feel free to leave us a comment about it!
