Destiny 2 has accidentally fixed the most annoying Gambit bug of all time in Season 21. MeinMMO reveals how you can now outsmart the pesky particle bug in Gambit and why it is just faulty luck.
What annoying problem plagues Gambit? The Gambit mode in Destiny 2 is a PvPvE mode forgotten by Bungie, yet it still has its followers. And it is here that a persistent and annoying bug has caused frustration and dissatisfaction among players for a long time.
It’s about the problem that Gambit particles keep sinking into the ground.
- You painstakingly clear an area and then, when the enemies drop their valuable particles, they simply slide 1 meter deep into the ground. Almost unreachable for every Guardian.
- This is not only extremely annoying but can also negatively influence a team’s progress in Gambit and even lead to defeat.
But that is now over. The problem with the particles slipping underground has probably finally been eliminated. Even though it is essentially a bug that likely happened by chance.
“Vacuum Mod” from Season 21 grabs every particle
This is how you always collect all Gambit particles: The solution for how to still collect every particle that has been lost under the map has come about in an unexpected way. It became possible when Bungie introduced a new mod called “Powerful Attraction” in Season 21.

- To use it, you need to have a armor capacity of at least 2 energy available.
When the Guardians tried out the new armor mod, they were astonished to find that it not only collects “Orbs of Power” nearby. The mod also reliably sucks in the particles that have slipped under the map in Destiny 2.
For that, the Destiny player ClapTrap created a Gif on Reddit showing how well the mod works for Hunters in Gambit. Esoterickk has also already tried it with his Warlock in a private match:
“This is not a mod, this is a glitch!”: “Powerful Attraction” apparently also works in other locations. But those who are now excited and hope for relief in the particle raid “Garden of Salvation” will be disappointed. The mod, which seems more like a crazy glitch, does not work there at all.
Aside from that, “Powerful Attraction” is generally a fantastic option for Arc Hunter melee builds. It is stackable, which further increases its range, and those who equip it can constantly place 15 particles or collect an enormous number of orbs within seconds.
- Once equipped, we could cover a radius of about 10 m.
- With two equipped, it seemed to almost double the distance to about 20 m.
Other classes are slightly at a disadvantage: But while the Hunters are already excited, the other two classes are still somewhat skeptical. The mod “Powerful Attraction” does not seem to be as suitable for their class abilities. At least not in Gambit.
As the player Kosire notes:
Nice for Hunters, but [for Titans or Warlocks in Gambit] stopping to place a barricade or a rift is probably not worth the effort to reach the particles underground.

Meanwhile, Arc Titans with their exotic “Heart of Inmost Light” could actually use their abilities quite frequently, especially in combination with the Arc dash.
Furthermore, one should consider that the particles do not always and everywhere slide underground. Therefore, the mod could also be a viable option for Warlocks and Titans if they push their rift or barricade a bit with a corresponding Gambit build.
How do you get the mod “Powerful Attraction”? In order for you as a new player to use the mod “Powerful Attraction”, you must basically complete the ascents of the new Guardian rank system. Level up to rank 6 and complete the triumph “Threats and Waves”.
- “Complete Strikes using a subclass that corresponds to the current wave.”
Destiny veterans have already unlocked the mod “Powerful Attraction” automatically and can socket it directly into their class item.
A dilemma between solution and problem
Is a bug that fixes a bug the solution? Thanks to the attention of Destiny players, this unexpectedly simple solution for a really annoying problem has been found. It’s actually a good thing because Gambit has been neglected by Bungie for 5 years now, and the particle bug has never been fixed.
But although the mod makes the Gambit experience more enjoyable, it also makes it unfair because you can fill your particles very quickly. In a team, it’s simply too strong to have 4x 15 particles ready within seconds. This was probably not the intention of Bungie. If the opposing team uses this mod, you will definitely notice it.
So if Bungie decides to fix this bug, Gambit would be fairer again, but the old annoying particle problem would return.
Still, many players have asked Bungie to refrain from a patch, as the mod does not work in the raid and Gambit really needs a ray of hope.
Whether the developers will heed this request remains to be seen. For now, however, the mod “Powerful Attraction” is still active and can be used in Gambit.
