On Thursday evening, Ubisoft presented its new Battle Royale, Hyper Scape. It surprisingly kicked off on Twitch – and it makes sense, as the matches are closely tied to the platform.
This is Hyper Scape: As already revealed in leaks a few days ago, Hyper Scape is a new Battle Royale from Ubisoft. It offers quite fast-paced gameplay in a futuristic world. Players compete in teams of three, and a match accommodates 99 players – so at least 33 teams are fighting for victory.
How Hyper Scape was showcased: On Thursday evening (July 2, 6 PM), a flurry of streams suddenly started on Twitch, providing the first impressions of Hyper Scape.
That the first presentation took place on Twitch makes sense, as the game integrates Twitch chat directly into the matches.
What we know about Hyper Scape
Ubisoft hasn’t released too many official details yet, but the streams on Twitch give a good impression of the game.

Classic fight for victory: In the futuristic world, you land as a team of three and fight, typical of Battle Royale, to the bitter end for victory. A large city was showcased where many houses are freely accessible – as long as you enter through golden windows. Overall, you move pretty quickly: sprinting, ducking, sliding – all of this is possible.
As with other Battle Royales, the focus after landing is on quickly equipping yourself. From crates and the ground, you’ll quickly find different weapons and gear that you can level up in Hyper Scape. An unusual feature: The Twitch chat can actively participate in the events through an extension.
This is the role of the chat: The Twitch chat can vote live on in-game events. It can suddenly happen that gravity is nullified or players become visible on the map for others. Depending on which way the votes go.
It will also likely be possible to join lobby sessions of streamers you are currently watching via the extension.
Hyper Scape distributes access through Twitch Drops
Can I play already? Anyone who watches the game between July 2, 6:00 PM, and July 7, 5:59 PM during partner streams can receive access to the technical test as a Twitch Drop. A very similar strategy that fully relied on Twitch was employed by Valorant a few weeks ago.
For this, your Twitch account needs to be linked with Ubisoft. You can find a detailed instruction on the official Ubisoft page. Additionally, the streamer must have “Drops enabled” to allow you the drop. Once you receive a drop, you can switch to the Uplay launcher, which you can find at this link.
On which platforms will the game run? Hyper Scape will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is a Free2Play title that, like Fortnite, features an in-game shop. However, this will only offer cosmetic items and no gameplay advantages.
