A new Barbie movie is coming soon. The trailer is already exciting hundreds of thousands of potential viewers worldwide. However, some scenes bear a strong resemblance to the upcoming Diablo 4. Journalist Jason Schreier is highlighting a particular moment.
This is the new trailer: A new Barbie movie from Warner Bros. will hit theaters on July 20. Starring Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad) as Barbie and Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049, La La Land) as Ken.
On May 25, the studio released a new trailer featuring the film. Barbie celebrates with her friends and poses a strange question: Do you ever think about dying?
She then suddenly notices strange changes, especially in her feet. They are suddenly flat and no longer have a high-heel posture. This puts her in a dilemma, and an apparently older Barbie explains to her: she must now go into the real world to clarify this.
“I call this Brand Synergy”
Jason Schreier shared a tweet showing two scenes from the Barbie trailer and the reveal trailer of Diablo 4. The screenshots appear to reflect each other.
Schreier calls this “Brand Synergy.” This refers to the effect when several companies advertise similarly to make the impact significantly stronger than if they stood alone:
Other scenes are also quite similar, such as when Barbie floats away from her house. Lilith has a similar descent from her bloody rags when she is summoned. Just not so pink.
In the comments, some users are excited that they are finally part of the target audience. The obligatory comparisons to Tarantino are, of course, also there, after all, it is about feet.
Some are even asking for a Lilith version of Barbie. However, whether this will ever appear is rather unlikely.
And what about the movie? The trailer says that the new Barbie movie is explicitly meant for everyone who hates Barbie. And it generates excitement: both on Reddit and on YouTube, there are tons of positive comments. Many believe the meme potential is enormous.
