For trainers in Pokémon GO, it’s all about the little pocket monsters. But how would you actually look as a Pokémon? A new AI makes this possible now. Our MeinMMO author Franzi has tried the AI for you and shows you the results.
Which program is it about? Those who want to dive into the world of Pokémon could previously do so primarily through the anime or through the main series games, the trading cards, as well as with the help of Pokémon GO.
A new artificial intelligence (AI) now allows trainers to dream of becoming a Pokémon themselves and creates a suitable graphic for that. We will show you how it works and what graphics I created.
How to Become a Pokémon
The creative minds at Replicate have developed a tool called “Text-to-Pokemon” that has the ability to create graphics from texts. To be precise, these are not just any graphics, but hilarious images that directly remind one of Pokémon. And the best part is: everyone can be part of it.
How does the AI work? Creating such a graphic is incredibly simple. If you want to see yourself as a Pokémon, you need to proceed as follows:
- Open the Text-to-Pokemon website.
There, you can first take a look at how the tool is set up and discover initial graphics. - Scroll down the page to under the input mask and click on “Sign in with GitHub”.
- Now you have the option to register for free or log in if you already have an account there.
- Once you’ve done that, you will be redirected back to the input mask that was previously grayed out.
- There, you can now enter any texts and determine various parameters.
- Then you confirm your input with the “Submit” button.
- After that, you will see the progress of your image on the right side. Once it’s 100% loaded, the graphic will be displayed to you.
- You can then download it using the “Download” button.
What Do Our Pokémon Graphics Look Like?
I had to try this tool on behalf of all Pokémon fans and generated graphics for the most important terms surrounding Pokémon GO. Of course, our team from MeinMMO had to be part of it as well. Here are the results:
Especially the graphics of Giovanni, Blanche, and Candela are, in my opinion, very accurately depicted. Even without a closer description, one could suspect who it is.
And the red and blue color of Pokémon-Ash’s body actually reminds of his clothing in the anime. Professor Willow, on the other hand, looks a bit angry, which we are not used to from him in this way.
For one graphic or another, you need to know what was entered, as it may not be directly recognizable at first glance. But the images are definitely ready for the Pokémon world. Now we just need the fitting names.
Personal conclusion: In my opinion, the AI is really great. The images are funny and provide a cool distraction. I could have spent hours creating new Pokémon graphics. So if you’ve always wanted to know how you or your friends would look as Pokémon, you should definitely try the tool yourself.
