In The Division 2 is finally continuing with Year 5 after a long delay. Season 2 has started and brings the update ‘Puppet Master’. In addition to the familiar Manhunt, an old but also popular activity is back: The Incursion. It puts the players’ skills and teamwork to the test and is currently not achievable solo.
What is happening right now in Ubisoft’s cover shooter? In Division 2, Season 2 of Year 5 has launched.
- As announced, players have had to focus on the ongoing search for missing persons since the beginning of October 2023 in Season 2 to learn more about Natalya Sokolova’s plans against the Division.
- As part of this rescue mission, ‘The Recruiter’, the main objective in Season 2, awaits at the end, as the Division wants to know who is being recruited and why.
- Additionally, agents will see new improvements to areas of the castle when rescuing each hostage as part of the ongoing reconstruction of the settlement.
The developer has adjusted the old manhunts over the seasons, so they mostly run on bounties now, but they haven’t become more spectacular because of it. The missions are also part of the story and thus manageable for every agent without much effort.
In Season 2, the Incursions from Division 1 made their comeback, and the first of these missions is currently the absolute highlight for some players.

What exactly is an Incursion? An Incursion is a game mode in The Division 2 where you have to tackle various encounters in a mission.
This type of incursions already existed in the first part of The Division. However, in 2023, the missions were refreshed and slightly changed. New mechanics can also be found in them.
- The first Incursion in Year 5 Season 2 is called ‘Lost Paradise’.
- Players travel to the decadent Meret estate, which has been attacked by enhanced Cleaners who cover everything with nasty Greek fire.
- Players must go through a total of 4 sections and complete various mechanics along the way.
How tough is it? Damn tough. Basically, one can absolutely call the mode a mini-raid or high-risk endgame operation for good three or four-player teams that demands everything from you and your builds. The mechanics sometimes do not allow players to complete them solo.
Some solo players, like marcusdiddle, have already been disappointed, stating: ‘ I tried it five times, and the longest I survived was 30 seconds.‘
We can also confirm that it is indeed a challenging endeavor that is tough enough to be worth your time. And don’t worry: If you don’t have a team, you can activate player search for the Incursion and try your luck with random players.

Incursion drops a unique weapon
What can you expect as a reward in the Incursion? Every week, when you have completed the new Incursion ‘Lost Paradise’, you will receive an exotic item as a reward. This also includes a 10% drop chance for the unique exotic SMG ‘Ouroboros’, which can currently only be obtained from the Incursion.
If you repeat the Incursion, you will only get a drop chance of 1% for the ‘Ouroboros’ for each boss. Nevertheless, it is worth getting your hands on this weapon.
- The SMG is based on a .45 Vector, but with a 50-round magazine.
- It has a fire rate of 1650 RPM, which can even be increased by 15% with the Striker set. And this with the same base damage as the original Vector.
- If you are affected by a status effect, the weapon’s talent will transfer the same status effect to your targets with 50% of the ammunition in the next magazine.
On paper, the ‘Ouroboros’ currently boasts the highest burst DPS of all weapons available in Division 2 and is also not to be underestimated due to its reload speed bonus.
The introduction of Season 2 ‘Puppet Master’ brings fresh air and a higher difficulty level to the world of Washington, D.C., at least with the Incursion.
Those who wish to take on this challenge can look forward to an intense gaming experience that tests their skills and rewards them with exclusive loot. Already now, players want more of it and even consider it better than the descent mode with its crash lottery.
