Game of Thrones is getting a new game, and it’s already coming next year. After a long silence, there are now updates about the game.
What kind of game is it? The large gaming company Netmarble announced in February 2022 that it is working on a Game of Thrones game. Netmarble is known for picking up popular pop culture brands and developing successful games based on them.
Especially well-known is the action RPG Marvel Future Fight. The mobile MMORPG Lineage 2 Revolution also achieved great success – it is based on the MMORPG brand from NCSoft, which also includes Throne and Liberty.
According to Netmarble, the game is supposed to combine “the profound experience of a single-player game” with the extensive experience of a multiplayer title (via inven.co.kr). After a relatively quiet period regarding the game, a job posting for the project confirmed that it is indeed still in development. A new report shows how far the development has progressed.

Financial report reveals the release date
What kind of report is this? The financial report from Netmarble serves investors and stakeholders in the company as a tool to understand the status of their investment. This includes not only sales figures for various sectors of the company but also the upcoming releases for the next year.
There, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is listed as one of the titles that are supposed to be released in the first half of 2025. According to the financial report, the ARPG is set to be released on PC as well as iOS and Android. However, another notable detail might disappoint MMO fans.
What kind of notable detail is that? While the RPG for Game of Thrones was previously understood as an MMO or even MMORPG, Netmarble now refers to the game in the financial report (via netmarble.com) as an “Open World Action RPG.” At the same time, MMORPGs are explicitly referenced for the games “RF ONLINE NEXT” and “The RED.”
This could mean that the MMORPG for Game of Thrones might not become a reality, and that Game of Thrones: Kingsroad could instead be a single-player title. However, more details on this are not yet known. This situation will likely be clarified soon.
When will the game be presented? You won’t have to wait much longer for certainty on whether Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will indeed be an MMORPG or not. Netmarble will present the game at G-STAR 2024 between November 14 and November 17, 2024.
G-STAR is a Korean gaming fair where many Korean developers present their games. It is likely that there will be a trailer for Game of Thrones: Kingsroad there.
