Wayfinder is the new project from publisher Digital Extremes. This company is responsible for one of the major MMO shooters, namely Warframe. The co-op RPG Wayfinder recently conducted its beta test on Steam. Find out here how the beta was received by testers.
What kind of game is this? In detail, this co-op RPG is a dungeon crawler. Similar to Warframe, loot is at the forefront. The action game also offers a crafting system and features different heroes with various abilities.
The co-op game is developed by Airship Syndicate and published by Digital Extremes, the developer of the popular action MMO Warframe.
Many fans, as well as the former developers of Wildstar, associate it with the failed MMORPG and even call it Wildstar 2.0, even though it is not an MMORPG. Thus, Wayfinder is partly understood as a reincarnation of the MMORPG through its design.

What impressions are there from the beta? At mmorpg.org.pl (via mmorpg.org.pl), there are several comments from users outlining the game’s content at this time.
Finally, a game that does not disappoint with the test version
User ZesralemSieNaAnime writes in the mmorpg.org.pl forum that he is very pleasantly surprised by the closed beta, especially regarding graphics and atmosphere. After all, Wayfinder reminds him of the past MMORPG Wildstar. He also discusses the contents, stating that he was able to try the following (via forum.mmorpg.org.pl):
- A starting quest with a paladin including sword and shield as well as the Vanguard weapon set
- Entering the
Lost Zones
through portals from the city - Dungeons
- Weapon switching and accessory slots including a new gameplay style
He particularly liked the indication from an NPC that the dungeons feel new with each entry
and are apparently randomly generated.
YouTube also has clips from the closed beta that have received commendations from the community (via YouTube):
- User ThreeDPrintDesigns:
The graphic style looks like a World of Warcraft on Unreal Engine. I love it!
- User Cee_Espee:
The design reminds me so much of one of my favorite games, namely Wildstar. I am so excited!
The Steam user [GER]Dynamic, for example, also enjoyed it. However, he is bothered by the lag in the game (via Steam).
Other users commented on the experience less positively. For instance, user elektrycznyy commented on mmorpg.org.pl (via mmorpg.org.pl) that he played for a few hours and found it generally boring, without providing reasons for it.
Other users similarly expressed negative opinions about the game’s design and even harbored a suspicion, such as:
- User mateloshoficjalnypowrot (via mmorpg.org.pl):
That’s just some damn mobile game
Whether it will actually be released on mobile devices is not known. So far, it is planned for PlayStation, PC, and Steam.
At least the closed beta test does not disappoint, as happened recently with other titles. For example, Throne and Liberty received much criticism after its closed beta and was also faced with pay2win allegations.
