How does The Tribe Must Survive play? During the day, as the leader, you are primarily focused on building and expanding the base. You assign tasks to your tribe members, such as chopping wood.
At the center of your camp is the campfire, which is better not to extinguish, especially at night. The darkness is dangerous. Dark monsters lurk in it – the overall mood of the game is intended to evoke the horror of H.P. Lovecraft.
In his stories, fears play a central role. In The Tribe Must Survive, your tribe members also have individual worries, needs, and fears. But also desires. It is important that they are happy and, ultimately, survive.
The developers are pursuing a similar goal as Rimworld, which recently received a fourth expansion. Your NPCs are not just a number in the statistics. It should feel painful when you lose a member of your tribe. For example, during one of the nighttime excursions, which are risky but also offer exciting rewards.
This way, you can unlock new trade routes or find rare resources. But also dangerous monsters that can overwhelm you or your base.
According to the developers, there will also be conflicts within the tribe community over time. Every decision you make as a leader should therefore count. What rituals do you want to perform? Which spiritual direction and philosophy do you follow? How can you contain the growing panic when an expedition goes wrong?
The developers promise that there will be unexpected stories to discover in every new round. The world is procedurally generated. Throughout a round, you will also unlock bonuses that you can take into the next attempt.
How can I try the game? After a three-month phase in Early Access, The Tribe Must Survive is now released and can be purchased on Steam.
