At Gamescom in Cologne, a new MMO called WiLD was introduced, which is being developed for the Playstation 4.
In WiLD it’s Celtic
Fantasy world? Veni, vidi, vici – seen, crushed, and conquered. Aliens? Already killed. Middle Ages? Caribbean? Ancient times? All have been there, all have been flattened. WiLD will take us back 10,000 years to a world long before the Romans or the stuff we consider civilization. With “Celtic” mythology, WiLD aims to explore a still fairly unknown field for most players.
The new MMO WiLD was introduced at Gamescom. Leading the charge is Ubisoft’s Michael Ancel, who was already responsible for Rayman. The game is being developed by his new “studio” Wild Sheep Productions, but Ancel remains employed by Ubisoft at the same time. The situation here seems a bit unclear, but that shouldn’t concern us players too much.
Dynamic weather, changing seasons, vast world – everything is playable in WiLD
The trailer shows a fresh, untouched, and unknown world filled with fantastic elements such as an underwater skeleton, a giant bird, and giants. The people in this world seem to live by hunting and gathering; the graphics look fantastic. The developer mentions in a blog to the Playstation 4 fans that they wanted to create something that they themselves would enjoy playing again and again for months.
Therefore, they decided on a vast game world (about the size of Europe), dynamic weather, and changing seasons. To keep the gameplay experience eternally fresh, they experimented in the early stages and came up with the idea of playing as a wolf, a horse, a sheep, or even a trout. This excited the creators so much that they decided to make every creature in WiLD playable and experienceable, including the really large and truly dangerous ones.
With all these new possibilities, players should encounter new gameplay situations with each experience.
The trailer definitely looks great:
