Fortnite: Battle Royale has a new hero named Calamity in Season 6. You can further upgrade her – how to do that, we will show you here.
Who is Calamity? Calamity is the new title heroine of Season 6. Since Season 4, certain skins have been an integral part of the season’s story, which is told in the bonus images.
This season, for the first time, a female character takes the lead role: The Cowgirl Calamity, who will develop from a simple stable girl to a grim monster hunter throughout the story.
Fun Fact: Her name is likely inspired by “Calamity Jane”, a notorious gunfighter from the Wild West.

How do I get Calamity? The new heroine is available immediately at level 1 of the new Battle Pass from Season 6. Unfortunately, it is only in the paid pass. It costs 950 V-Bucks, which is about 9.50 euros.
Does Calamity have special features? Indeed, the new skin is upgradeable multiple times. Once you have farmed a certain amount of experience points, you will get new options for the heroine:
- As a starting version, Calamity doesn’t wear much. She only wears a hat, cowboy boots, hot pants, and a white tank top.
- Starting at 20,000 XP, Calamity puts on black leather pants and a vest and dons a bandit mask.
- When you have a total of 50,000 XP, she gets sleeves for the vest, studs on the shoulders, fringes on the pants, and leather gloves.
- For 90,000 XP, her hat becomes more magnificent, she wears a bandolier, and has a short poncho over her shoulder, reminiscent of McCree from Overwatch.
- At 140,000 XP, Calamity becomes really cool. She is now wearing a stylish leather coat.
- Finally, when you have farmed 200,000 XP, the coat gets a glow effect and smoke surrounds Calamity in a dark manner.
How do I get a lot of experience points? Ideally, win games (which works quite well in 50vs50) and get a number of kills, survive long, and revive your teammates. If you complete four tasks in a week, you will also receive an XP bonus.
Is there more? In addition to the additional styles, you can also give Calamity other colors. To do this, you need to complete a certain number of weekly challenges:
- By default, the accents on her clothes are white
- When you complete a total of 10 tasks from the weekly challenges, you can unlock the turquoise color
- For 25 challenges, you get violet, which looks especially good at the last skin level.
- Whoever completes 50 challenges unlocks the black color
What about additional accessories? The matching pickaxe for Calamity is a wooden stake. You get it once you have unlocked at least 5 more options for Calamity.
A glider for Calamity is available in the Battle Pass from level 39 and a ghostly fall animation from level 83. Only a back accessory for the monster hunter is still missing.
How long do I have to unlock all this? Probably as long as Fortnite exists. Since Season 5, Epic has not tied the progress of the new skins to a specific season. So you can take your time and don’t have to complete everything in Season 6.
How is Calamity received by players? The Fortnite community has found Calamity to be good so far. Many players like the new skin, and right now there are many cowgirls in the game wielding all sorts of weapons.
Big fuss about Calamity’s breasts: Additionally, there was a little scandal at the start of Season 6 regarding Calamity. In certain emotes, her breasts were fully animated and wobbled realistically. This was said to be an accident and has since been fixed.
