Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the famous Witcher series, was interviewed at a convention. He mentioned that Netflix did not accept any ideas from him for the series with Henry Cavill. However, he takes this disregard from Netflix calmly and with a fair dose of humor.
During a Comic Con in Vienna, the Polish author spoke with the gaming website Cerealkillerz.
Andrzej Sapkowski mentioned that his suggestions for the Netflix adaptation were ignored by Netflix.

In the interview, Andrzej Sapkowski was asked if he had ever given Netflix feedback on the series. The author replied that he “might have given them a few ideas”.
“They never listen to me,” he explains. The Witcher creator seems to take it with humor and laughs. He quickly adds: “But that’s normal.” Then he humorously mimics a Netflix manager who only asks in confusion: “Who is that? It’s an author, it’s nobody.”
However, Sapkowski also had words of praise for the adaptation: he was impressed by the enormous set of the series that he was allowed to visit once.

As PCGames further elaborated, this ignoring of the author’s suggestions could be one of the reasons why the series has a significantly different tone from the books and deviates so far from the source material.
For instance, some of the best episodes of Game of Thrones were written by the book author George RR Martin himself, while the Witcher series apparently was implemented completely without the author’s input.

In response to the question of whether Andrzej Sapkowski has ever played any of the video games, the author denies it and explains:
“I don’t have time for that, and it’s not entertainment for me. No […] I have never played it and do not plan to play it.”
There is also good news for fans of the book series. The Witcher writer mentioned in the interview that he is currently writing a new installment, which he estimates could be released next winter.
