Netflix has news for the waiting fans of One Piece. The second season of the live-action series is one step closer to release and is already generating excitement with a first image.
What about season 2? The live-action adaptation of One Piece by the streaming service Netflix launched in 2023 with a first season. The 8 episodes were very well received by fans and have a 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It was only a matter of time before Netflix provided more content. While the story in season 1 initially told how the Straw Hat Pirates, led by Monkey D. Luffy, came together, bigger adventures could become the theme in the continuation – including new characters.
According to One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, the season will “include Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island” (via x.com). He was also on set.
While there is still no official date for the release of the new episodes, Netflix has news: The shooting for season 2 is complete. The streaming service released a first image.
The image gives hints about an important location
What does the image show? The photo shared on x.com features the main cast of the series. That is to say Monkey D. Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Usopp. While the protagonist, along with his straw hat, enthusiastically stretches his arms to the sky, his crew members appear more reserved, or let’s say: cooler.
The background of the image also stands out. It shows a square with a statue, and behind it, two alleys. Between them hang banners celebrating the 22nd anniversary of Gold Roger’s execution.
Although it is not confirmed, the location could be the city of Loguetown. Because that is where Gold Roger was executed. Visually, it is also not far-fetched that we are getting a first look at Netflix’s version of the town.
What does the community say about it? Under the post on x.com, numerous comments from enthusiastic fans are gathering. It seems that the first image is already well received:
- “The set? The costumes? My favorites! I am so ready!”, cheers user Litta.
- “It looks fantastic”, writes Lord Queso.
- “I am so hyped for this season”, says 33 Like Kareem.
- “The outfits are DOPE! This is awesome!”, finds Jakob Daniel.
- “When will there be a trailer?”, asks Adam_K37.
Netflix has remained silent on the latter question so far. Fans will have to wait before a first trailer shows moving images of the new season. However, the wait is expected to end by late 2025 or at the latest in 2026. Also, the anime itself is set to receive a remake, for which the creator has clear ideas: The creator of One Piece mentions a condition that the remake on Netflix must fulfill for him
