In The Division 2, the new Exotic “Nemesis” turns out to be perhaps the best weapon in the game. The sniper rifle is so powerful that sharpshooters prefer to use it over their specialization weapon.
Why is the weapon only available now? The exotic sniper rifle “Nemesis” actually came out with the major update “Tidal Basin” a few weeks ago for The Division 2.
However, the weapon was locked behind a time gate. Players must go through all 3 strongholds in The Division 2, specifically in the “Black Tusk” version:
- Direct Union Arena (the Hyena base)
- Roosevelt Island (that’s where the Outcasts hang out)
- And the Capitol (the stronghold of the True Sons)
It was necessary to wait for two additional resets after the patch, because every week, the stronghold taken by the Black Tusks changes and counts as “Invaded”.
But now the time has run out and the first players have the weapon.
In addition to the three parts from the strongholds, you need two more parts for the Nemesis:
- The blueprint is obtained from a boss in the hotel mission.
- Another part can be found in Tidal Basin when you dismantle the named weapon Adrestia Sr1.
What was known about the weapon: Dataminers had already discovered the two central abilities of the weapon Nemesis :
- This is a sniper rifle that can “charge” the shot. The longer you hold the button, the more damage the shot deals.
- Additionally, you can aim and mark opponents with the Nemesis. This marking allows you to track enemies even through walls and increases the damage further.
How strong is the weapon now? Since this week, the first players have the weapon and they rave about the sniper.
The weapon can achieve incredibly high damage values. There are reports of versions that reach values beyond 340k.
- According to the website Forbes, the Nemesis can reach up to 1.5 million damage points with a headshot.
- MeinMMO reader JimmyDean claims to kill elite enemies with one shot using the Nemesis.
- However, these damage values can vary. MeinMMO reader NO ME3RCY states that his original model had a damage value of 301k at weapon level 490. When he upgraded the Nemesis to 500, the damage dropped to 281k.
This is the problem: The extreme strength could now develop into a problem for the Nemesis.
Because the weapon is so strong that it makes the actual specialization weapon of the sharpshooters redundant.
Therefore, many agents are now expecting a nerf for the Nemesis. Many believe the weapon is simply too strong to remain in its current form in the game.
So anyone who can get their hands on the Nemesis should probably use it for as long as possible.
