For some time, there have been rumors that NCSoft, the South Korean company behind MMOs like Throne and Liberty or Lineage, is working on an MMORPG for the well-known Sony brand Horizon. However, that seems to be off the table now, as a report shows.
What MMORPG is it about? There have been rumors since 2022 that an MMORPG based on the Horizon games from Guerilla Games is in development. Project H
was reportedly the internal name for the upcoming game. However, those were just rumors for years. There has never been an official announcement from Sony.
Apparently, there won’t be one now either, as a recent report from the South Korean website MTN shows. At NCSoft, which announced a partnership in 2023, several projects now seem to have been canceled prematurely.

. What exactly these games were is not mentioned in the Korean report.
The development team for Project H
is said to have consisted of former employees of the now-closed company Entryv. The size of the respective teams is unknown.
According to the report, the decision to close the 3 projects was made as early as the end of the year. Employees from the various development teams are reportedly being reassigned to new teams internally. According to the report’s information, the team behind H
is to be transferred to the headquarters of Lineage.
A few days ago, it became known that Sony has apparently canceled 2 other online titles. There are no further details on that. One of the titles was said to be a multiplayer game from the God of War series.
Update from January 22, 2025: A user from the South Korean website Ruliweb apparently asked the author of the original report via email if Project H was really about the Horizon MMO. According to a screenshot, he replied that he never specifically mentioned Horizon or that Project H has nothing to do with the Horizon IP (via Reddit).
