According to a conference with investors, NCSoft plans to release three major MMORPGs in 2021: Aion 2, Blade & Soul 2 and Lineage Eternal (Project TL). But which of these could be interesting for you?
2021 could be an interesting year for MMORPG fans. At least if you’re interested in the MMORPG franchises Blade & Soul, Aion, and Lineage. Because NCSoft finally wants to release successors to these titles, as NC Soft explained to investors.
Project TL (formerly Lineage Eternal)
What can you expect from the game? Project TL is planned for 2021, but there is no exact date yet. The game, which was formerly known as Lineage Eternal, aims to be a mix of hack ‘n slash and MMORPG – similar to what is the case with Lost Ark. You’ll play from an isometric view, but you’re not only expecting battles, but also many quests, NPCs, interaction with other players, and more.
The MMORPG takes place in the universe of the two MMORPGs Lineage and Lineage 2 and looks impressive in the first videos. However, little is known about the gameplay so far. It is expected to be released for PC. The developers are currently testing based on initial tests for Project TL whether it is competitive, though this was not explained further.
Who is the game suitable for? If Diablo 4 has too little MMORPG content for you, but you like the gameplay style of a hack ‘n slash, then Project TL might be interesting for you.
The battles are fast-paced and action-packed, and you also need to incorporate the environment into your strategies – for example, to topple stone pillars onto enemies. In addition, you can expect plenty of boss battles.
Aion 2
What can you expect from the game? The release of the MMORPG is supposed to take place at a yet unspecified date next year. It is a mobile game that is referred to as a “milestone.” This means it is expected to look so good graphically that it could also be a PC MMORPG.
The story takes place around 900 years before the events of the first part, so Aion 2 is a prequel. Just like in Aion, the focus is on flying. However, the combat system is expected to differ significantly from that of the first part. PvP is important, and it is even possible for players from different servers to wage war against each other.
Who is the game suitable for? Aion 2 is obviously aimed at fans of the first part. Flying around and battles as well as PvP should be of interest to you. However, this time it will be played on mobile devices. This means if you’re a fan of Aion, you should be open to the new platform.
Blade & Soul 2
What can you expect from the game? Just like AION 2, Blade & Soul 2 is a mobile game. The release is planned for the first quarter of 2021. NCSoft calls the game a “masterpiece.” Initial videos have already shown that we can expect a visually impressive title – even though it is a mobile MMORPG.
The development studio aims to make the battles even more interesting than in the first part. This is to be achieved through an improved combo system and smarter enemies.
Who is the game suitable for? Blade & Soul 2 picks up where the predecessor left off and is aimed at everyone who wants to experience action-packed, spectacular battles in an MMORPG. It is also necessary to enjoy playing on a mobile device, as there are currently no plans for a PC version. You can basically expect a better version of the predecessor from Blade & Soul 2.
