At a gaming event in Seoul, South Korea, NCsoft presented new MMORPGs. However, these will be released for mobile devices.
Mobile MMORPGs are particularly popular in Asia, as players no longer have to play in a specific location, but can do so on the go. No wonder NCsoft is increasingly focusing on this area and has now announced three MMOs: Lineage: Red Knights, Lineage Mobile, Project ORCA, Blade & Soul Mobile and Final Blade.
According to the trailer, Lineage: Red Knights is a strategy MMO where PvP battles play a crucial role. The online game enters a closed beta today in South Korea and will be released on December 8th in this country, as well as in ten others. The Chinese market is particularly interesting for NCsoft, as they have secured a deal with a Chinese publisher worth 10 million US dollars.
Lineage Mobile is essentially a port of the classic yet still extremely popular MMORPG Lineage. It is played in an open game world, and all elements of the classic will find their way into the mobile game, including the story and the characters.
Mobile MMOs on the Rise
Little has been revealed about Project ORCA. It is said to be a “Next Generation Mobile MMORPG,” especially concerning graphics. The battles are expected to be action-oriented and easy to control.
Blade & Soul Mobile shares only the name and background story with the original. The characters have been transformed into cute anime figures, and the battles are conducted through a card game. The mobile game has already launched in China.
Last but not least, Final Blade has been announced. The mobile MMO is set to release in South Korea in 2017 and is expected to be an action RPG. More details about the game are not yet known.
As you can see, NC Soft is putting a lot of emphasis on the mobile game sector. Whether and when these games will be released here remains to be seen.
