The world of Shinobi offers many strong characters in Naruto Shippuden the stage to show what they can do. That is why we looked at all the characters and show you which ones are the strongest among them.
Warning, Spoiler: In assessing the powers of the characters, we are based on the current state of the anime/manga of Naruto Shippuden. We deliberately left out Boruto as there would be different results in the ranking. If you have not watched the anime or read the mangas, please return at a later time.
How was the ranking established? In our ranking, we compared all characters of the anime and refined the selection with the many years of Naruto experience of our author Christos Tsogos. In doing so, we examined the abilities of each individual as well as the story behind the person and came to six finalists who represent the most powerful characters in Naruto: Shippuden.
Please note that we do not include Naruto Classic or Boruto in our list. The ranking would be different in those lists. However, if you are interested in such a list, feel free to express your wish in the comments. Now let’s get to the ranking.
6. Hashirama Senju (The First Hokage)
Why is he so strong? Hashirama Senju, also known as the “First Hokage”, is considered a legend in the world of Naruto. His abilities and talents far exceed those of a normal ninja. As an exception, he alone possessed the Wood Release and could further increase his strength with his Sage Mode.
With his abilities, chakra reserves, and superhuman regeneration of injuries, he was able to handle the fight against Madara and Kurama, defeating both at the same time.
5. Madara Uchiha
Why is he so strong? Madara Uchiha is one of the strongest Uchihas that have ever existed. He was the first of his clan to awaken the permanent Mangekyou Sharingan and the Rinnegan and possessed the ability of Susanoo.
With his talents on the battlefield, Madara was even able to take on the Five Kage and the entire Shinobi Alliance without much effort. His ambition also helped him become the Jinchuuriki of the Ten-Tails and with his power nearly plunge the entire world of Shinobi into the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
4. Sasuke Uchiha
Why is he so strong? Sasuke Uchiha, one of the last living Uchihas, is a powerful Shinobi and the second of his clan to awaken the permanent Mangekyou Sharingan. With the power of Hagoromo, Sasuke was also able to elevate his strength to a new level and received the rare Rinnegan with six Tomoe.
He masters Space-Time Jutsu, Susanoo, and can make entire moons rain down on opponents. Together with Naruto, he was able to halt the crisis surrounding Kaguya to save the world from destruction – making him one of the strongest ninjas in the Naruto universe.
3. Naruto Uzumaki
Why is he so strong? The Jinchuuriki of the Nine-Tails, Naruto, is a powerful ninja thanks to Kurama. With the chakra of the Kyuubi, Naruto has an inhuman amount of chakra that seems never-ending. With this, Naruto can produce multiple shadow clones and Rasengans, which would kill a normal ninja due to the high chakra consumption.
He was also gifted with the power of Hagoromo and now possesses the power of Six Paths. Together with Kurama, with whom he has made peace, Naruto can envelop himself entirely in the chakra of the Nine-Tails for protection and even fight against large enemies like Sasuke’s Susanoo. The powers and attacks of Kurama also belong to his repertoire, allowing him to fire Bijuu balls at opponents.
2. Hagoromo Otsutsuki
Why is he so strong? Hagoromo, the elder son of Kaguya, takes the second place on the list. He was the one who split the Ten-Tails into pieces to create the nine Bijuus that terrorized the world of Naruto. His power can easily match that of Naruto and Sasuke as he possesses the Sharingan, Rinnegan, Susanoo, can master all elements, and use Sage power.
Together with his brother Hamura, he was finally able to stop Kaguya for the first time and seal her on a moon to save the world.
1. Kaguya Otsutsuki
Why is she so strong? Kaguya, the mother of all ninjas, is the strongest character in Naruto. She possesses the Byakugan as well as the Rinne Sharingan and can manipulate chakra, space, and time. The reason she is so strong can be traced back to her immortality. She consumed the God Fruit of the God Tree, gaining limitless power.
Because of this circumstance, she cannot be defeated and instead must be sealed, as seen in the fights against Naruto or Hagoromo.
